Will Google not index URLs that I delete from sitemaps.xml?

I've generated my sitemaps.xml. If I manually delete some rows/URLs from the sitemaps.xml file, even though the files for those deleted rows/URLs still exist and are accessible on the Web, will Google still index them?

    TIA!

Onsons that was very helpful. I think the premise of my question is based on a misunderstanding of how G uses sitemaps.xml.

Would restricting the URLs in the Robots.txt file work?

    Yeah.

You can also use nofollow/noindex tags :)

Yes.. This is a better idea to hide a specified page from search engines. Use no index tags for that specific page.

yes... google will index that page if the page accessible on the web. Our view to submit a sitemap is to make indexing process fast by google, but if we don't submit a sitemap then google will index all live pages also but with slow process.
