    • follow the rules, like no adult links in your sig
    • post in the right forums
    • don't try to give things away, sell things outside Buy/Sell/Trade
    • make lots of good reports
    • be helpful
    • get on with people

    I had thought it required a lot of intelligence, great sagacity, a cool judgment...

    -and the willingness to repetitively smack one's head into a solid wooden table, from all the mindless posts and petty squabbles we tetchy kids foist upon the unpaid them. :D

    I think there are many tough exams that you need to go through. If you pass, you can become a mod.
