I'm thinking of selling web hosting space.
What are some of the things I have to take note of?

I understand that it is competitive out there.
But I really want to do it !

So what do you suggest I choose?
    VPS or Resller?

    Does it work like,
I order a big amount of web hosting storage and bandwidth and I have the option to break up this amount into different accounts with different of web storage and bandwidth and sell it to my customers?

Does my customers pay my reseller directly or pay me?

I'm sorry if my post is dumb.
I made a search online, but I'm afraid the information is not accurate as most web hosting companies and affiliates are writing with a lot of marketing to probably get someone to sign up with them.

So I hope someone can tell me more or give me a link to where information about selling web space is accurate.

    Thank you !

    Hello,

If you are new to hosting, I would suggest a reseller account. VPS's, especially if un-managed, require some good working knowledge of running a server. With a reseller account, you can also probably save some up-front cost at first. Also, with a reseller account you don't have to worry about the server (since the host takes care of that) and you can take that worry time and focus on your business.

Yes, You could start as reseller and then get a server to manage, Dedicated Servers from about 300$ So I Suggest you to go for reseller.

Or even as affiliate as its not costing thing to work as affiliate.

Take the reseller for now and when you get more experienced use a VPS/Dedi.

Your clients will pay you directly, they order from you not your provider then you pay your provider the cash.

    Hello,

Generally yes, that is how it works. However, you would want to find a provider, or a few, and ask them these specific questions.

A reseller account will give you less physical control than a VPS, however being new to web hosting, a reseller account will allow a great amount of control with the least responsibility of anything breaking etc.

ive decided to take Hostgator's reseller package.

but please correct me i'm wrong.

if i'm gonna transfer a website from my old web hosting plan to the new reseller plan i'm going to sign up
all i have to do is to use save files from the old plan and move it by FTP to my new plan?

but what happens about the email set up at the old plan?
will it be transferred this way or may i know how do i do it?
    can someone guide me,
