Different colour words/numbers in sentence

    I have 3 sentences on my site like this:

    "this is the example number 1.1. This is the example number 2.1. This is the example number 3.1"

    What is the best way to make the numbers bold and a different color? I would use a span, but I don't really want to go through every sentence putting spans in.

    Is there another way to do this?

    I'm fairly sure the best way is a span. It might be work putting them in now, but it will be easier to change the color later.
