I'm new to affiliate marketing and was hoping for some advice.

I need to decide if I want to do article marketing on sites like ezinearticles.com or if I want to buy a domain and make that the affiliate site.

Obviously the website idea would look more professional, but I would need to spend some money on the domain. Article marketing would be good because it's free and I don't have to stick with a single product. I would be free to experiment with different products using different articles.

Domains wouldn't cost much, but I'm also going to spend a little on Google AdSense and I'm on a tight budget at the moment.

I've done research and watched several videos on affiliate marketing and getting traffic. I get the gist of it, but I still have some questions. If anyone is feeling generous and would like to help me out a little, my AIM is evilj0e and my MSN is evilj0e@hotmail.com. I would greatly appreciate any tips you could give me.

I think you may want to do both. That's what most people do. Domains are only a little over $7.00 per year (Use a GoDaddy Coupon for your domain name purchase "COMSALE" is one that always works). Get some web hosting, get your affiliate site up...

THEN, you start marketing your landing page through article marketing and other techniques. This is the way most people do it, I believe.

You can probably get a coupon for your Adwords too. Do a search for "Adwords Coupon" in Google, you'll get plenty of responses. Should get you $50 or so of free advertising.

I don't think this is an either/or situation - you can use both methods, and you probably should. Your own domain is good for things like credibility and lead capture. If you can't invest the small amount it takes for this, I respectfully submit that an internet business may not be right for you.

Having a domain will open your options up a lot. This will help you make much more. It's worth the $7

Buy a ".info" for like $3 and have it forward to a good converting affiliate offer. Then do all the EZA marketing you like...
