There are numerous ways to promote your business cleverly in a way that will attract more traffic. Obviously, the SEO side is paramount (link building, directories, onpage/offpage analysis etc), but also shout about it using social bookmarking, blogs and forums.

Other than SEO or Pay per click, I would try targeting message boards (forums), yahoo answers, social bookmarking sites, and others for more website traffic. What I like to do is answer questions on yahoo answers and put my domain on the sources section of the answer.

 

There are a number of ways to do that.

SEO optimization is a major thing. Keywords within your site' content is key especially if they are one of the more searchable ones out there. However, I would not look at those that are really competitive because this means that everyone is using that term so in a sense you are also competing with the other sites for the same keyword.

And I believe a number of them already said this but content in a site is also important, especially one that helps people with what they are looking answers for. Once you have content in place then do link exchanges as well as social bookmarking.

It takes time but slowly you will be building on a foundation that works.
