I think put most on your website, then submit the rest to high ranking article submission sites. Then you get the benefit of both

Both strategies have benefits! However, I'd rather feed unique content to my own website than otherwise!

Post all of your articles on your site first, and then submit them to ezinearticles.com or other direcories!

    What are your goals?

Do you need to drive more traffic to an established site with plenty of content, or build quality content for a new site or a site needing more depth?

Be clear on your goal and then use your content appropriately.

I think it would be best if you posted your articles in Ezine directories. Ezine directories have a huge circulation base. Find directories that accept the articles you want to publish, subscribe to them, get a feel of the directories and then make a decision based on your findings.

My routine is to post 70% to my own site and then 30% to EZA. I'll then do a 60% rewrite on the articles submitted to EZA and spread them over the other top 5 directories.

Some good advice in here. I'm looking to utilize articles in my marketing and was not clear on what the split should be on content on my site vs. content on Ezine Articles. Thanks.

My best advice for you is to post all of them to your site. Then choose 10 - 15 of your best articles. How you would choose them would be based on keywords and how you think would work well on search engines. Once you've done that re-write them obviously, but remember to keep the keywords in mind. After you've done rewriting post them all to ezinearticles. Watch as your traffic will grow eventually :)

Definitely post them to both! I would recommend posting to Ezine first because if they find out your article is already posted somewhere else, then they will reject your submission. Once you submit to Ezine, then post to your website and as many other article directories as possible. The more exposure the better.

OK after reading all the wonderful advice you all have given this is my conclusion:

Put Articles on BOTH your own Website and Article Directories. Make sure Articles are UNIQUE by spiining the content.

Thank you everyone ... feel free to put up more advice and tips if you wish :) Im sure alot of people are learning from this thread ...

Everyone here is saying do this do that .... it really doesn't matter. Google will probably rank your ezinarticle faster than it would rank your unknown website. So once it's ranked on ezine, just rewrite it and post it on your website. If not, and your too lazy, then just go ahead and paste word for word from your ezine onto your blog + tags.

    Wise advice.

You get backlinks, more traffic, more buyers/clickers, and you also avoid your site being pushed down the serps by authoritative sites using your "duplicate" content.

It is better to go with EZA and other article directories as those are having good authority.
The links from those authority sites are more valuable.

I'd say put the original extended version on your site, edit it down/or chop it in half, then rewrite or spin that content into Unique articles for each directory. (I'd recommend coming up with at least a handful of title variations as well). This is the technique that I used and each & every article was accepted (including ezinearticles) with total ease.
