Google Analytics "Other"

Okay so this is the first time i have ever seen anything like this. I own many sites, and this is only sowing up on one.

Normally for the traffic sources, it would have Direct, Referral and Search engine, I am now seeing a new section labeled Other that is yellow. It does not give any details on what excactly it is, but I am gaining traffic through it.

Does anybody have any idea what this could be?

any traffic that Google Analytics cannot identify/classify as direct, referral or search is reported as "Other" traffic

 

That page doesn't answer the question as to what other is!
It is suggesting that it could be anything!

 

If you have a lot of pageviews, that could be that you have passed the pages or pageview limit. (Google will not count past the limit)

 

I have a site that was getting a ton of traffic for second tier keywords, however was still on the 3rd page for my main target keyword. One day in August I noticed I had one visitor from "Other" source and the same day, I shot up to the 4th spot on the 1st page.

My thoughts were that it was a manual check from Google because I believe the site was slightly over optimized as well.

Do you think it could have possibly been a manual check from G on your site?

 

Well it is a proxy site, so i highly doubt google would bother with that...
