$100 Website Redesign - 96 Hours

I'm looking for a redesign of the following site: http://www.vegacandles.com

The current site has only been up for a month and was designed by me (a developer, not a designer). Thus, I'm looking for an entire new look: logo, color scheme, and layout. I'm interested mostly in the overall look of the new design. Depending on the entires I receive, I may run a subsequent contest for a higher quality logo. Use whatever colors you want and don't let the current set limit your design in any way.

CONTEST DETAILS
1. I will leave the contest open until at least midnight of Tuesday, Sept 8.
2. Payment of $100 will be made via PayPal within 24 hours of selection.
3. Winner will provide a PSD file and any fonts used.
4. I reserve the right to not pick a winner, or to extend the contest, if less then 5 unique designs are not posted.
5. No coding required.

RULES/SUGGESTIONS
1. Must be your own design, not from a template. You must have the right to use any images.
2. Feel free to watermark any design you post.
3. Also feel free to use watermarked stock photo comps from sites like iStockPhoto. I will purchase any stock photos that are needed once a winner is selected.
5. By accepting payment, you agree to transfer full rights to the design and will not use it for anything else.

 

yay! sounds a great contest... will try to have something for this if my time shedule permits...

 

I realize this is a holiday weekend for many people; I'm not in any particular hurry and don't mind leaving it open longer if anyone wants to enter and needs more time.

BTW, jnjnnino - I looked at your portfolio and liked your work so I hope you have a change to give this one a try.

I'll be entering this contest as well.

 

Just a couple comments to the current entries:

1. The shopping cart status box will appear on every page, so it needs to be in a location that would work sitewide.

2. A search bar will also be sitewide. The current site does not have one, and I should have mentioned this in the OP.

I will hold off on comments until the logo is there, but I like it. This is the direction I'm looking to go.

I don't dislike your design, it's probably similar to something I would have come up with myself. I just find it somewhat plain, and nothing really stands out. I feel similarly about the sLiMsHaDys design, although in that case I also dislike the all orange background. Feel free to make new entries if you want to come up with another version.

@Erthy - looking forward to seeing your entry

@Groffy77 - I think I liked the blue background in the box next to the stock photo better (from the first version). I'm also not crazy about the logo. I think the candle is fine but I'm not sure about the font and size of the text. I do like the rest of the design though.
