Hostmonster, Bluehost are good but you can also try esited.com. I just find esited.com flexible server specs good enough for my social networking site even if it is just a shared hosting. They do backups too.

You don't want to be cheap with your hosting, as poor hosting will lose you a lot more money down the road. It seems like everyone likes hostgator and none of these people have their hostgator aff link, so it looks like a legit recommendation to me. I personally don't have experience with hostgator but I'll probably be moving my blogs over to them as well.

Hostgator really is the best quality hosting with superb support. I would highly recommend them...they also have promotions and coupons very often like the other poster suggested...theres currently a pretty good one active which is 20% off monthly or even yearly plans: http://www.couponfan.com/coupons/hostgator.com

    cheers

I would go with godaddy for domain and bluevoda for hosting. Bluevoda is $100 per year, and is unlimited bandwidth, while having a forum with a page rank of 4 and tons of support. They have some very bright people on there that can help with SEO and other general questions. The best thing is there website building software that is exellent! Check my website I used with Bluevoda...

Hostgator good if you want to pay 8.99/month. For 8.99/year, I would recommend HostLuck.com! :D

I have tried GoDaddy, I didn't care for it (might just be me). For the past year I have used FusedNetwork. I have had very few problems (due to my end, not theirs) and support usually replies within minutes to help solve my issue.

They have several plans starting around $10/month.
