That's why you see very few editors here anymore, it's a hate forum. Those of us who try to straighten out the misinformation that runs rampant here are personally insulted in every possible way, and you hear nothing from the moderators.

Of course, we're here by choice, but that still doesn't excuse the kind of abuse we're handed, and it seems ok with the moderators. I think an ODP forum here isn't really meant to get real information, as much as it is a place for webmasters/SEOs to blow off steam.

Well, so be it, you boys go ahead and talk to each other.

You don't get insulted. You are confronted with a reality you just can handle nor deny. And what happens here is what happens in every other forum about DMOZ except res...zone.com which is controlled by editors. :)

Didn't you ever ask yourself why there is so much anger against DMOZ?

It is alive in the sense that you get two of the most powerful directory links on the internet (Google directory and DMOZ). It is dead in terms of quality listings, lots of "link rot", lack of editors and corruption.

DMOZ is extremely obsolete and Google needs to drop DMOZ as it's directory clone, then DMOZ will be totally dead as there will be no point in getting listed in DMOZ anymore.

Barely. It's alive only because Google grabs data from it...

You're wrong. This is not hate forum, this is in your face truth forum.

Now, what are you mean by real information?
If you're talking about your Red Book's talking points that you're employing to reply to just another stupid post made by some morons
    - "why Am I not listed after 2 year?" or
    - "how long does it takes?",
then you are dreaming if you think they care to hear what you have to say, because
    a. they already know they submitted spam,
    b. they're posting to bump amount of posts and your reply fail on a deaf ear,
    c. if they really want to know the answer, they would go to DMOZ forum and get the answer from a cow's mouth.

The question is: what are you really doing in this forum?
    • You obviously can't help anyone.
    • You're arguing with people who're telling you that your replies are useless.
    • You don't want to discuss serious issues and
    • You are insulting hard working Webmasters

If you wanna have civilized debate and gain respect from us Webmasters, (this is Webmasters forum just in case if you forgot) then why don't you start by debating this subject instead of replying to post of some 2 bits stupid jerk.
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=12400365&postcount=121

So, go ahead, you are giving a chance to have real conversation.

I actually believe in the other when it comes to DMOZ....just stop submitting. What's the difference anyway ?
    What is the benefit ?
Why continuously stress out over a directory that does everything in it's power to discourage you from submitting, asking questions, or communicating with them ?

You would think it was a hot nightclub in Miami or something:p

Well it's just as weird that every week there's a thread like this started. "Wahh wahh, my websites not listed in dmoz, I submitted it hours ago! It's a good site, it should really be in there." I too am surprised that editors keep coming here and dealing with a topic that has been covered, and covered, and covered, but I don't think it's out of a sense of wanting to change anything. Maybe it's out of a sense of educating people about Dmoz, but that's seemingly pointless.

Hahahahaha I can't stop laughing. Nice find fastreplies!!!

I can't believe the outright lies and misinformation perpertrated on this thread. DMOZ is dead? Says who? A link from DMOZ is still worth its weight in gold. Any competent SEO expert will tell you the exact same thing.

If you want to continue to hate on DMOZ, that's your prerogotive. After all, they're an easy target. But enough with the lies. The fact of the matter is DMOZ is still a force in its own right. More importantly, DMOZ still has huge clout with Google when it comes to rankings.

    And that's no lie!

Any competent SEO will tell you that SEO has nothing to do with directories or PR
You can visit http://forums.seochat.com and maybe, just maybe next time you start talking about SEO, you will have an idea what you are talking about.

I will repeat it just for you.
All you will get from DMOZ is 1 backlink and that is fact and that is how Google sees it.
Would you like to prove me wrong, go ahead?

The fact that its only one backlink and you have such a hugely bad image of dmoz, well....it makes me wonder why you have made previous submissions and are so keen to be listed? That may be just a little bit hypocritical :) LOL

Well snooky, I was afraid you would never ask.

AMRAY sites were submitted to DMOZ in 2001 before my time and even thou AMRAY web hosting has been listed, your bodies removed AMRAY Directory 5 years ago.

“Official reason”, according to email from editor was: duplicate content and AMRAY have to put attribution to DMOZ or site will be removed, real: in your face truth about incompetent editors who wrote Titles and Descriptions and Categories where they had placed AMRAY sites.

If you have access to archives, then you will find how Webmaster at that time demanded removal of all AMRAY sites from DMOZ Index.

So, it was nice try but, sorry snooky, your little catch yah didn’t work.
Any more questions like that one you just tried to pool out from your arse?

    ;)

Litle bit sensitive aren't we? I merely wondeed why you constantly bag dmoz and abuse editors, yet you still try and get your site published. I guess i touched a nerve:confused:

I strongly agree with this. Whenever anyone wants to say anything over at resource-zone, metas will immediately ban and delete your thread. This DP forum is much more helpful, especially since it prevents "mafia" DMOZ mods from deleting your threads at every turn.

DMOZ editors consider any forum but their own, "hate forums". Why is that? Well, the only place were you won't read complains against DMOZ is res...zone.com, almost. Because the use to remove every trace of criticism from their forum. Although, once in a while they fail to remove some post.
That's what they do to fool themselves about DMOZ being the best directory ever. A perfect directory impossible to improve. :) Anyone thinking DMOZ has something to improve has a misunderstanding of something. hahaha

I don’t know if you realize how stupid you post sounds.

To answer your question to your full satisfaction:
    • I hate stupid hypocrites without spinal cord to keep their head on top of shoulders and not on top of their Asses.
    • If I want to as you said site get published, I would kiss your Asses and not kick them.
    • Having AMRAY on page #1 in G. already, you can bet your mama’s dress you’re wearing, for AMRAY being in DMOZ won’t do any better than that

You see, I’m not angry, I’m straight, as an arrow and I never miss bull's eye.

Snooky, don’t you get tired being wrong all the time?

Oh...I dunno, i think your attitude and comments speak pretty much for your character (LOL). About me be wrong, well, that is simply your perspective.

Mmhh...explains your obviously low self esteem and totally understandable how you feel. :(
