    yes, Something is much better than nothing.

    If you knows html then you can optimize your site seo by giving H1, b tag to right keywords.
    Also, you may know how to give alt for image and title for link which will increase right keyword density to your site.

    Yes, it helps a lot. You can make use of the Hs tag in the proper way and this helps a lot in engines such as google, yahoo and bing. You can make correct use of the strong tag and you can put in the proper way the alt attribute in the img and link tags :)
