How do people manage this? Is it just a photoshop picture? For an example of what I'm talking about, http://www.davidlehre.com/neonlove/index.html His main page is there, with a border, and then there's the big green background with dots. How would one achieve this? A picture that big, and sharp (the dots are clear) would be huge, wouldn't it? Thanks for any info/tips!
It uses img tag <img src="images/yourpict.jpg"> not background the designer use photoshop to achive that dots and optimize the image to load fast. you can achive that using photoshop. hope it helps
A quick glance shows this site's graphics weighing in over 700 KB. That's not really an achievement. Nevertheless, it's a good looking site.
It's just a green background and img html tags. The dots and all the design were most likely made in Photoshop.
wow, my site is around 105 kb and it loads in the same time if not slower... anywho... how do I optimize an image like that in photoshop? (have such a big picture load quick)
http://www.davidlehre.com/neonlove/images/FeaturedTop_22.png It's just images around the border. Oftentimes, you can ind a template and then change the images they come with to something you like. Still others will create the design in photoshop and slice it up to make the page.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's hosting. I turned off my cache and compared the main picture to a marginally larger picture on Deviant Art. (It was just the isolated image in both cases.) I didn't notice much of a difference in download speeds. I know it's hardly a scientific test, but I'll leave it at that.
it is best to put a background image size (W: 1px h: 1000 px ...) such as a gradient that only the spread. very nice effect
you could use online image compressor tool from yahoo: developer.yahoo.com/yslow/smushit/ and reduce your image size about 20%
that green background with dots is simply a high resolution background. It's an image made in a graphic design program(probably photoshop). simply set a picture like that as a background.
