    Manually. Manually. Manually.

We ran a test on this and auto-submission is not just a waste of money, but a waste of time too.

To do the manual process of submitting to directories is the preferred option as software just makes it appear more automated and less unique for each submission, I know full well doing it the manual way takes time, but being lazy takes time too, so get your thinking caps on and sort out a linking strategy that will benefit you in the long run and not in the short term with automated software that will just duplicate the same link submissions everywhere.

I do not agree. I work with themes SEO 6 years and I know an expert in the use of semi-automatic registration with the program proposed in the above of topic by me (perhaps there are English analogs of this program, but I do not think that they are so far in progress becausee the developers are Russian programmists). The program provides great benefits for setting priorities for the registration of titles, descriptions and keywords for each link. Do not forget about the time - because "TIME = MONEY! Someone doing the same job manually (as long as the person who smarter to play tennis or ride a motorcycle t). Sorry for bad english.

I think submitting to top 20 directories is enough for directory part of the complete seo strategy.

i submit to directories manually. i know it takes more time but so it goes.
i tried a submission service last year something like 450 directories etc for a relatively small fee and found that few of the directories gave me a backlink so decided to do it by hand. i've never tried the auto submitters and from what i read there's enough problems with them to put me off, so i do it manually a few times a month or so...

Auto Submitter are nice if you are not having enough time for it , but the manual submission is clean to do...
    What do you think.

automated submission programs no to both, the golden rule of directory submission is do it right and do it once. There are tools out there that can speed up your submission by navigating to the directory automatically, then you navigate top the category, and click a button to add title description etc. But this is not automatic it is manually submitting, it is just speeding up the copy and paste.

Do Directory submission Manually, dont use any software to submit your site. That will more effective than automated submission.
