You'll never rank in the top ten for all those keywords. Your site is far too new to even think about highly competitive keywords. You need to pick less competitive keywords and concentrate on a few of them. Quality backlinks from relevant sites. Free directory and forum signatures aren't going to work for highly competitive keywords.

Give an enormous amount of money to Google, jump up and down and request your keywords to be placed in the top 10.

Well I would advice you to do some keyword research and find keywords related to your industry with lesser competition getting decent amount of traffic then carry on doing SEO with it.

If your site is new, it is better to target long-tailed search terms. I suggest you target many long-tailed, because in that way you can generate a good credibility to search engines for those one-word search term.

All of these terms are broad and have high competition. It may take year for you to be on top for these.

However if you perform keyword research again and try to find suitable key phrases or niches with less competition and decent Search volume you can get high ranking within months and finally for these broad terms.

Use these short listed key phrases in you Anchor Text while Link Building.

Its Up to you Now ;)

id suggest finding some lesser known keywords and then move on to these bigger ones. instead of "blackjack" what about "blackjack tips online." just an example, you need to do your own keyword analysis.

Tell your client that he needs a protracted and expensive marketing plan to get himself top on such keywords. Or he could work from getting the number one spots on more niche casino gambling.

Have you tried to check your competition? Try typing those keywords and see the top 5 of each keyword, check their backlinks with Yahoo Site Explorer or other tools, and see if you think you can "match" their techniques or not.

We all know it can be attainable but it will take more than years as those keywords are very strong.

Target 3 pharse keyword, instead of using one keyword and two phase keywords.

Clients always want more for less.
Best give them a reality check
Check how many backlinks and the PR the top sites have for each keyword (Market Samurai is a great tool for this)
To bump them off their top slot you will need more quality backlinks.
A good start would be to then tell your client how much it will cost him - at approx $1 per backlink per keyword!

Once they start to understand how difficult and expensive that will be - maybe they will get back to reality and follow some of the suggestions you have already been given? Such as targetting longer, more descriptive keywords.

By the way, just because the chosen keywords you have been given have lots of traffic, it doesn't mean that will translate into lots of buyers for you - so even if you get that traffic, a lot of it may just clog up your server.

Much better to anaylyse your clients business to find out exactly what they want to do and the longer relevant keywords they use.
