"Lorem ipsum..." What does this mean? It's in a different language yet everyone seems to use it! I googled it and it came up with something along the lines of it being a "common example" such as a "fill text here" type. As seen on the template of many designers/website developers, such as this one done by Helado:
Hope this answers your question: Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. Lorem ipsum actually doesn't mean anything at all so this nonsensical phrase is used so that the consumer can focus entirely on the typography/fonts/typeface.
Also, Lorem Ipsum's word and letter distribution is very similar to the english language. (To generate a lorem in Microsoft Word, type =lorem(x,y) where X is the number of paragraphs and Y is the number of sentences)
How about you just go to the wikipedia instead of asking over and over again about what it means. You can learn all about it ENJOY!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorem_ipsum
Go to lipsum.com.....its dummy text that printers use to use to make pages look better, has something to do with the human mind...instead of writing XXXXXXXXXXXJHDKDSGLFSAHGASDFLHFSGLSHGSLAKXXXXXXXXXXXJHDKDSGLFSAHGASDFLHFSGLSHGSLAKXXX XXXXXXXXJHDKDSGLFSAHGASDFLHFSGLSHGSLAKXXXXXXXXXXXJHDKDSGLFSAHGASDFLHFSGLSHGSLAKXXXXXXXX XXXJHDKDSGLFSAHGASDFLHFSGLSHGSLAKXXXXXXXXXXXJHDKDSGLFSAHGASDFLHFSGLSHGSLAKXXXXXXXXXXXJH DKDSGLFSAHGASDFLHFSGLSHGSLAK Lorum Ipsum gives it flow, like you would normally see in a sentence... Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Vestibulum ut molestie est. Vestibulum vestibulum viverra mi, eget iaculis lacus accumsan eget. Integer luctus, nisl non tincidunt interdum, libero mauris blandit diam, eu dictum lorem est vitae magna. Vivamus rutrum diam at quam feugiat semper. So basically...it just fills space, is over 500 years old and has transcended into web design....
Now, why would you stoop to name calling? Not really. There was nothing posted here that was not in either or both of 1) Wikipedia on lorem ipsum, or 2) the "I'm feeling lucky" return from Google, loremipsum.com. I'll suggest one more reference that will help you if you let it, How To Tell You've Seriously Screwed Up cheers, gary
I'm not calling him a stupid, I'm calling him stupid. Thanks for taking sides gary but I'm sure when I said thanks before it's a citizen's closure.
No, I didn't take sides. I responded to your inappropriate behavior in hurling personal insults, and to the obvious case of your seeming inability to do any effective research on your own. As to closure, did you really expect to act so boorishly and not receive some degree of censure? gary
You will quickly discover here and elsewhere on the net that no, most people don't actually google it. They ask first. Been doing support for nearly 20 years now. I welcome the day that folks will discover that they can in fact discover how to fix things and find out information via searching. They'll google for cute cat pictures but when it comes to a specific error code, it doesn't sink in that they can do the same. But to continue with the thread, if you;re using wordpress, there's sample content you can use: http://wpcandy.com/articles/easier-theme-development-with-the-sample-post-collection.html
