Checking on godaddy can result in someone stealing your domain name ?!

    Hey all...

I wasn't going to post this but I am a bit annoyed..... I have been using godaddy's domain name check tool in order to see if names wich I come up with are taken ....

I am surprised to see that quite a bit of the names wich I for instance checked 2 or 3 weeks ago are registred now! And I am talking about names wich are really not that common...

I have a not so nice feeling about this... anyone have these experiences ??

Give an example of the names? If you want them you should register immediately. I don't think Godaddy releases lists of searches.

It does not seem that we have luxury to shop around and think about the name we find. If you find a name you like you had better be ready to register it right then. Bob Parsons of Godaddy blogged about this problem. For those of you who have not read his blog you should.

You mean registered by go daddy? or just parked at godaddy?

I am sure they are not sharing the search details..with any 3rd party..

    So its just YOUR luck

I used to be dubious about these claims, but after my own experiences I always advise to think of a name, and be ready to buy it immediately when you search.

Domain search/idea stealing is happening. Where, how, and by whom I cannot say exactly, but always err on the side of caution.
