IE8 is the first of the Internet Explorer series that I actually felt comfortable coding cross-browser compatible websites with, as prior I always had to hack together some tweaks and such to make a site IE compatible when it was perfect in everything else. Just gota wait for most of the popular javascript frameworks to update for IE8 and it'll be quite ideal.

Course we can't abandon targeting IE hacks just yet since as many as 15% if viewers still use the dreaded IE6. (It was worse though when I had to code sites for clients that looked and functioned identically in Internet Exploder 4 and Nutscrape 3 at the same time).

I was a huge fan of Firefox, especially on my mac in combination with FireBug, but ever since FireFox 3, it had been ungodly slow, even after I tweaked the setting in attempt to make it not freeze up for several seconds as I tried to type in a url. Since then I switched to Safari 4 which is much faster at javascript execution that either IE8 or Firefox, and seems to do the same on windows as well (it just doesn't pack all the plugins like Firefox does).

If IE 8 is more powerful, then why it has 9.1% share as web statistics. Firefox enjoys 47.9% browser share.

    Hi,
I am currently using Firefox and trust me i am quite comfortable with Firefox in stead of IE8. IE8 is better that IE7 but it is not as good as Firefox. Firefox gives a better speed than IE8, that is most important for a internet worker.

Firefox is still better in my opinion, take one example, I was showing a preview of a website I'd made to my friend, worked fine for me, since I was using firefox, but my friend was using IE, it didn't work for him at all, this was 8.0 as well. Turns out I forgot to close one of my div tags, worked fine in IE then, my point is, coding mistakes are more easily bypassed in firefox, but in IE, it could spell disaster. Firefox's addons like firebug and the likes make it a better browser as well, there's even an addon to view pages through the IE engine in firefox, the best of both worlds!

Firefox just on the principle that I'm meant to hate IE xD (slightly biased!)
But FF does have the add-ons and all

    Exhibit A.

As to the case of lack of maturity the prosecution rests.

IE doesn;t expire cookies as fast as other browsers.

To really see an improvement in IE's speed, delete your cookies. IE8 has a new feature that will delete your cookies but will keep cookies associated with any bookmarks. Nice!

I was FORCED to update to Firefox 3.0, and stopped using it. The internet was going way too slow, and I'm using a broadband connection. I switched over to Google Chrome, and I've been going at lightning fast speeds. Anybody know if Chrome is safe, though?
