I put together a forum about music www.musicaltruth.co.uk its hosted on a UK server also how can i get sites like google etc to list it quicker? I see people selling sites on here that are a week or so old and getting xxxx daily traffic and thats what i want I dont mind spending a little on advertising, but i hear that buying back links etc is bad for a site I also dont want to be spamming other sites with any old rubbish and get a bad name I have tried reading through this site on many occasions and different peoples opinions contradict each other so whats the best way paid or otherwise to build up real traffic to a website at a reasonable growth speed cheers
Go get some backlinks like from ezine for instance and submit link to Digg, usually will help to index much faster.
Here is my article on how to build active community. I can help you with SEO if needed. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1467793
i cant remember now i was reading it on here about getting backlinks from directories and then google blacklisting them and so you not getting listed, also too many back links added too quickly and so black listed again
its a vbulletin forum with vbadvanced dont i need to shell out a fortune for that vbseo to do the seo? if not then its something i am definately interested in
Get some backlinks from higher PR and use social bookmarking and article submission. Use google adword as paid service to get traffic.
does adsence get you listed in the search engines .. i thought it just went on the sponsored section on the RHS?????
Carl05 just skip all info about SMF and use it for your forum. You can use the same principles in vb.
I dont know me and a few friends own www.vistareadygames.com but i think we got in at the right time with vista niche as that pulls in about 3k - 4k google traffic daily and we cant really see how or why it does it all we really know is that mr google pays us around £1500 a year for clicks this is why we wanted to build up a music one we have a record company on stand by for when we start getting new bands and demos on the site, but we want the site to be active enough first so we dont just look like another here today gone tomorrow site
get some friends together to help stir up discussion then get them to post links on their profiles on sites like facebook
I know a good site which my friend told me is good, http://1mfp.com , you just submit your forum and add something like an add-on and it brings u members, traffic, threads and more.... Simple and easy Getting a higher PR is harder, your site is a forum, so for now try concertrating on getting more threads/members and posts, would it be useful example if your site is PR 5 with 100 posts? Nope, first try getting new members and then go to getting a better PR...
Ok what you need to do is siphon traffic from other music forums. Go and be an active member of whatever popular music forum out there with lots of traffic and make lots of relevant posts with a link to your forum back in your sig. And from time to time you can answer peoples questions with relevant links to your forum. This method will should greatly boost your traffic, because they are already people looking for music forums.
That's true. Google sees it as suspicious activity if you suddenly get a ton of backlinks all at once. It needs to be done over time, and it needs to look natural. That's why paid services don't work very well - they blast your link all over the place. The more natural you can make the linking appear, the more effective it will be. In other words, attract links from the right sources (relevant information, quality sites). Don't submit your link to poor quality sites that have little information or are nothing but link farms. Go for higher rank sites (above 3) because they show stability in Google's eyes. Limit your linking sessions to around 20 a day to avoid Google's evil eye. Sylvia
