I made a site, http://BuyMyBG.com. I made the site to help me raise money for college tuition. I am looking to get some news sites to help cover the concept so that I can help expand awareness. I am just looking for some general opinions before I pay for a press release. Thanks!
Sorry, I just can't see that idea working without some crazy amount of PR behind it. I'd do it for $1, if you get more people doing it, more people will tell others about it. Also there is no garuntee that my background I just paid $10 won't be gone within 2 minutes. This guy (http://iwearyourshirt.com/) charged on a cost per day to wear a tshirt, each day there is more hype behind the site so it's worth more and everyone who buys is garunteed at least a day and their day is stored in a gallery so the sponsors money remains in the history.
Sorry I don't see the idea working. Take the advice of mushroomdigi I think it might get a better pr. But unfortunately I would not give $10 to have my pic up there. (I could have it up on any other site like facebook, myspace etc..... or i could just buy a domain and post my pic on there forever) This is just my opinion ... wait for other opinions to act. Its not a googd Idea no one wiil want to put the pic there for 10$ & he does'nt know till when it will remain So, you should utilize this domain for other purpose.
The image is too large..I cant see anyone wanting to pay $10 to put their background on your site. whats the benefit to the consumer? if you are going to take it off when someone else purchase their spot, it does not make sense.
Well as i mentioned earlier, I don't see the idea of buying a background working too well. If you need to make money for your college tuition it will need to be a lot more that a few hundred bucks. Here is a suggestion that stumbled into my mind. (you dont need to do it if you dont like it) - you have a url buymybg.com - you can make various blogs and promote each blog. If lots of ppl come to your blog.. you can sell your blog. - you can keep creating new blogs and selling them. (this way you can earn money for all 4 years, or maybe until someone else starts selling blogs for a lower price) -- you might ask me ...(why will someone buy my blog?) if you make good blogs that have many visitors. It can be a great sale. This way you dont have to sell buymybg.com but you can sell the url that has the blog. Income/revenue keeps coming in. ps. Make informational blogs and post ppc links on there. The ppc link can be the answer. Eureka! money earned. $$ lol. I hope this advice helps you out.
