Where is My www?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by khir rahman, Aug 20, 2009.

    Dear friend,

I've registered a domain, then create a blog with wordpress. The site and themes are in good order. Unfortunately my domain name does not appear www. Example http://sitename.com/ instead of http://www.sitename.com/.. So how do I resolve this?

    Thanks in advance

Really, why do you need www? Just let your domain name be special. It works anyway.

If your site is wordpress, do the following to get "www"

Go to Setting >>>General Settings .. then put "www" where it says "web address" and "Blog Address"

yea set the wordpress with www and also add a CNAME record in your DNS record. But keep in mind that Google indexes either one only. You can set the options in Google webmaster tools btw.

I personally think without WWW is better. It's redundant and a waste of time to type it.

You do not want the www. It is outdated and should not be used

Set 301 redirect on the server side if that is so important for you.

ok guys. thanks a lot. My site is now with www.

The reason why I need that www is because of human psychology, some of people/customers are very concerned about this. when you advertised or your link appeared in someone's page or appeared at the customer's url address, the percentage to get sales are higher. Every people/customers's perception are different, apart from content; some prefer to buy from a www site because they believe the site is reputable and some don't even bother. So i want to maximize my profit by attract those who care for that www and those who don't care of course. Sometimes a small things like this makes a different, maybe 1 or 2 sales, but it still a sale. So why not grab all the possibilities and make as much profit as possible.

    Regards
    -Khir-
