Number 1. You can Change absolutely everything on your page including the title and meta, and it will have no effect on your pr at all. Number 2. When the said page is re crawled, any changes will make a difference to your position. Not necessarily a negative one though. If your title and text are better optimised for your chosen key phrase, you should rank higher for it. Surely that'd be the reason for making the changes in the first place.

Yes, of course those are the reasons...but from what I'm gathering from this thread - it's not that black and white. Or is it?

changing the title tags will not affect your PR. And if the title is changed to match the term(s) she i trying to rank for then it should definitely help.

I've changed lots of titles on lots of my pages. When I do follow-up keyword research and realize I haven't optimized that title to the maximum, I change the title to a better mix of keywords. Over time, that almost always pays off with better rankings.

honestly, it really is that black and white. Anybody telling you that it got them delisted or changed their pr it talking nonsense. Unless of course when they changed their title tag they forgot to include their keywords. Even then, if the actual text is optimised for the said keywords, they wouldn't be delisted. Just drop in position.

If your site already having good SERP then changing titles and meta tags is not good for a site because there are certain chances of dropping ranking. But if you want to good SERP through proper targetted keywords then you you can change title and meta tags

It's depend on what type of changes do u want? If you replace primary keyword in Title then obviously your site would be affected. I think it should be better u can add your changes in Description.

You are on the right track. Change your content according to your new key phrases, and change your <title> and <description> tags to include those new phrases, as well. I learned quite a while ago that if I want to make a difference in the way Google treats my site, as far as organic rankings go, optimizing my <title> to suit the content of my site is the way to go.

You may see a "change", but if you are targeting the correct phrases, and using them properly in your content, then that "change" should be POSITIVE.

Absolutely optimize <title> and <description> tags! These are some of the most important aspects of SEO.

I noticed a huge drop in traffic from doing this. Sadly, it took about 5 months to recover.

changing the title could affect your rankings in a good way or a bad way. It might mess it up if the title you had was already good. I say you can experiment with it and if it goes down you could always change it back to the original title

    dear,
its good that you are helping your friend, here changing your title and description will not make any changes in the PR but yes it might have change in ranking in the search engine. if you pick appropriate keywords then it will rank you high and if not then you might go down in your ranking.

If titles are according to targeted keywords so it won't hurt. Changing meta title and tags won't affect anything in google.Next time when page get crawled so your new title and tags will show when you search the link.

Changing your title tags and description won't hurt your PR, but if you change your meta keywords, the rankings and traffic may affect or decrease...
