Suggestion General Chat / Underground !

Please remove the post count from the general chat and Underground forums.
Remove the reps from the Underground forum.

Issuing - Running Up Post Count/Post Has No Value infractions for posts in general chat and Underground forums ???

As if people are discussing molecular biology , synthetic biotechnology , and nanotechnology.

The Gen chat and Underground forum is there for the reason of 'Offtopic' chat there is no reason to remove members post count from those sections because it is the largest hang out for most DigitalPoint users.

In my Opinion I think Shawn should remove Post count from the 'Reviews' Section because that is the biggest post paddling section on the forum.

I think he was trying to point out some 'useless posts'

How is this relevant though? The OP was suggesting to remove post count & reps from these forums, how is pointing out that he has a lot of post count & rep on those forums worth mentioning? & The point is...?

I think that was selfless of him to request something like that despite most of his post count being from those forums, so basically he will be losing a TON if they started not counting posts from there, and his user title will obviously be reverting back (which is a downgrade for him)..
So, in simple terms, I don't get why you pointed out his post count ("research" with matching screen shot), as if there was something to be embarrassed about?

 

You will find wierd post in all sections that doesnt mean you remove the post count for it..

 

The Underground is nothing but a rep farm and a place to pad post count.
i agree with the OP. disable post count and remove all rep given in that area.

^ WTF? Crazy stupid person much? Do they not know that the posts already made will then be subtracted from current post count if this gets implemented? Everyone (including OP, duh!) gets affected by the changes, not just peons or whatever.

Ugh, I hate it when people leave negative rep, coz we can't even retaliate coz we have no idea who did it. >.<
But they know deep inside they're pathetic, so that's probably vengeance enough.

 

Yeah. People generally don't sign their negative Rep. for the obvious reasons. But, I once got a red rep which was signed. I actually liked it. I searched for his profile, cleared his doubts in the Rep area and gave him a Green positive rep.

I don't remember his username.

 

Just disable reps in such a quick time. Like if u rep someone, u can rep them again till u have repped many others... so after many others the next day u can rep the same guy? Just remove that, u cant rep more than once for the same thread (forever, or another rep after 100 posts of the thread or so)

and you don't give rep for threads, its for posts.

 

rep has lost all meaning and should be removed entirely...

nowadays people get rep points for even the most useless posts...

 

Well i thin it was always like that ive helped people in many forums i might have recieved a rep at 1:25 ratio

 

you have been a member less then a year and you have over 2000 rep points. i think your ratio is a little distorted.

 

Well participating in UG section always help but whenever i help people in server admin section. programming setion out there people only post and thank you they dont actually use the rep system a lot

 

That's one of the best parts of being a mod - when people leave nasty rep comments anonymously, not realizing that mods can see who left their rep.

Personally, I'd love to see post counts in GC and P&R not counted. Don't think it would happen, but it would bring the emphasis back to actual webmaster-oriented discussions rather than soft drinks, dating, and who hates who today.

 

Removing post counts and rep from GC means people HAVE to contribute to the forum to get BST access and rep. Rather than silly posts about cola, your dog, or whatever.

 

Also consider adding a feature where the user can see the value of his post that he is making as he types the post.
Something like the feature that we have in form filling where the system dynamically tells you the strength of the password.

Getting too many Post has no value infractions of late and that too in the GC and Underground forums.

 

I make silly posts everywhere, never stopped me before.
