I saw a very nice alexa rank domain name for cheap @ sale

my question, can be alexa rank faked like pr can (with 301 redirect) ?

 

I don't think so. There was some manipulation methods before 2008 (when they started to use new metric methods) but they are not working anymore.

 

I wonder what was that manipulation then?

I dont think so, alexa rank should be fake...Alexa is one of the best website to measure your website traffic and it gives you so faithful result.

 

I do think you can get your website a lot higher, by asking your most frequent users to install the alexa toolbar.

 

absolutely, alexa can be hyped, some companies offer that as a service, it's quite easy actually to trick your alexa rank!

I don't know if it can be faked, but I think the best way to be sure is to verify the numbers by many websites. Quantcast, Waybackmachine etc.

Alexa rank cannot be faked...but it can be manipulated by sending fake traffic to the site in question.

 

Alexa ranks sites based on the users who install the alexa toolbar rite? for me toolbars are like a big NO NO and sound so noobish. why do i want a site with alexa rank which only noobs surf?

pepprs - Actually I forgot all about that, and you are 100$ right. Alexa can only track the visitors based on the toolbar installed. Good point.

 

Thanks.. again. alexa was seen as a spyware those days, until they evolved as a ranking site and was then sold to amazon. There are some reports claiming that they now take a few other sources of data apart from their toolbar, but i am yet to buy that idea.

 

#527 is not possible to fake. Probably it get ranked for the main domain ranking there. I suggest you not to refer Alexa for this purchase. Maybe, you can check Google Analytics instead. Ask for a copy of google analytics review for the site that you are going to purchase.

I don't believe in faking the alexa rank, I think its just a rumor! but for me alexa ranking is not really important.

 

I dont think it is fake alexa ranking. I know some of the member buying domain and just boost the alexa ranking and sell it. As i know, to boost the alexa ranking to 50k just need 1 month
