Dropped in serps possibly PPC?

    Hi Folks :)

I was number 3 for my main keyword for the past year, recently I have slipped to position 4, "no big deal", not really, however being number 3 put me directly under the official site.

I am working away to get back to that position, however it has just dawned on me (no nothing really about PPC), that my competition could be using PPC, I have no way of checking, but if this is the case everytime I out rank them they can just bit more for the main keyword, is that correct?

I have 10 x the number off backlinks as them currently.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Dee

There is no connection in the dropped in SERPS with PPC. Maybe there is a dropped of serps because of your link building process and sometimes google fluctuates some of the keywords

    Hi

Well that is not something that I am going to get into. I will just keep working at it. Also as I said I don't even know if they are using PPL.

    Thanks

10 times backlink dont mean anything, quality of backlink is more important and quantity

Make sure your sites internal link structure is optimized correct as well, Google looks at a lot of different things and internal linking for themes and understanding what pages are about are part of it as well.

Make sure however, if you make changes, that you track and record so you can change things back.

As for being tied into PPC, I have not seen that and have not heard of that happening either.

Google very much likes fresh content, it could be that your competition has outdone you on this. If you have not updated your site lately then you should try that. Try adding to your pages and putting up some new content. A few updates per week should do it but you may have to keep this up or your competitor may again overtake you.

Another person has mentioned link quality, look into that also. I do not know what kind of link building you have done but if it has been directory submissions then you still got work to do.

I think google de-values these. Try submitting to the better article directories. Also look into related categories for your site and ask for links from some of them. use google wonder wheel to look for related site categories.

Anyone who don't know what that is google it. It is google itself telling you what google considers a related category to your site subject, use it.

    Hope this helps.
