These both are social networking site where you can get connected with so many people and can spread your business network. So many people using Facebook and Twitter, you can say its in Trend now a days Join both of them and get the experience.
Sure - Facebook and Twitter are Social Networks. The point is to reconnect with old friends or find new ones through a new medium. You get a profile page where you post basic information, then you can add friends, post on others profiles, post blogs, share content, upload pictures and videos, and update what you're up to. It's a social sharing site, usually for personal stuff about your life, but also many businesses now have a presence on Facebook and Twitter. Facebook is more of a traditional Social Network and Twitter is different in that you can only make posts of "140 characters of less" -- Twitter has a LOT of extra websites to help manage your account. For instance, there is a website called TweetFleet.net which will automatically add friends for you. Over time, you get 1000's of people following those little posts. The limit of "140 characters" means it's mainly used for funny or interesting quotes, sharing articles or videos you read, and promoting various offers. In terms of Marketing, social networks are a way to connect with people in your niche. You can establish yourself as an authority and send targeted visitors to your offers. You can ask questions and make blog posts to get market research. The key is to be active in finding new friends and commenting on others pages. Then you will get responses and start building relationships, which can turn into joint ventures or new customers.
Please note that these two social media sites have absolutely NOTHING to do with search engine optimization.
Oh really, nothing? Check out the term "SEO Tips" and ranked #12 is a Facebook page by Peter Drew. It's possible to rank with those... also check out the terms "famous name twitter" and their Twitter page shows up for the #1. I've been trying to figure out how to use that somehow... it's possible to rank for terms by having your Twitter name a keyword, because I've seen those pages rank for terms with generous traffic. Maybe even making a fake Twitter account using a celebrity name and trying to push it up the SERPS to stand next to the other real Twitter account might give some traffic.
you need to create group of friends and u can share your company news and general stuff across people
facebook is a social networking site and twitter is a micro blogging tool. these two can be included in your marketing arsenal. as Dan already pointed out, these have nothing to do with the SEO. but you can get some traffic based your marketing strategy.
Just another Web page as far as the search engines are concerned. What sets social media apart is that the majority of the pages have rel="nofollow" on them and the links on the pages tend to get archived (pushed out of view) fairly quickly. Oh, and they also tend to have a LOT of links on them anyway, so if they were followable by the search engines, they'd pass so little weight they'd make a forum post/signature link look like an attractive target (not that many people here don't make that mistake as it is -- oh wait, THEY DO). Oh, and if I was Peter, I'd rather have that #12 ranking be on my site, not Twitter.com (and piggybacking off its domain and link profile).
I think that in the near future these social networking sites will be a big part of SEO. Is that not what the whole "google caffeine" update is about? Giving social media sites like these more relevance?
Nope. Not at all. I've said it on other forums, might as well say it here. SEO and SMO are more like cousins than anything.
they are both social networks and both used for the same purpose - update those on your networkw what your up to. many companies use these networks to create profiles or groups which people can follow but like dan said it wont really help with your ranking - i prefer to see it as free advertising
