ihave and expert question based on a relevancy issue if you where a handyman or remodeler and you where targeting remodels in Hawaii or for the island of Oahu .... would it be wise to target a domain that has the city keyword or the profession keyword??

like this oahuhandyman.com vs Oahuhome.com ..........

as a expert seo what domain type in your opinons is more likely to thread higher in serps or would it not matter here ... again this is only for expert seo's and designers that know relevancy......

pleas exprt advice only specficly targeting what domain in preference would do better than the other especially since I am a hanyman in Oahu

 

either/or it won't make or break your SEO efforts, personally I would go with handyman because it is more targeted.

 

Yes, more targeted, easier rankings, probably higher quality traffic. Of course, you could get the other domain and talk about homes in oahu and have a section on repairs and link to the second domain.

the seo is from India ..... and he himself uses at least one keyword related to the trade... can ask seo experts would the dashes help like this oahu-handyman-repair.com be better for anchor text... also in the serps whats better.... common sense tells anyone to ad a trade name in a domain.... although he mentioned sites like wiki and about.com they talk about all sorts of topics..... and of course about.com ranks really high in th serps....

so if your ready to make a seo expert advice comment please use relevancy to domain theory and why one would agnore a keyword domain and use a generic city name home over it????? thats my major concern ..

best thing is you need to do make best keyword research of best competitive and include that in domain name

if possible try to get all of your main keywords in the domain name. Google seems to favor this.

 

the truth be told here .... no more than two in the domain ... thats seo ... not every keyword in it ....

 

Take all those results and see which one gets the most traffic. Then if they are close, register all the domains and point at the highest traffic keyword site.

great news........ Im sure I targeted the words with the most traffic .. but from what I gathers from Crainiol ..... I one I wanted was taken... so im looking at getting close as possible... now that I targeted the direct stae and Island I just need to add the trade ......... so now I have to go with Handymancity.com over cityhandyman.com would that be Okay Big Tommy G ....

 

The suggestions i just read with regards seo are practices that was acceptable to google and other top SE's 3, 5 years ago... it isn't so right now. Google has gotten too smart and has change what it is looking for in a web page to content relevancy.

So from this point, domain name does not count as much as before. be sure also not to use dashes in your domain name. Google thinks this as a spam.

 

I have to disagree with that ((not to use dashes in your domain name. Google thinks this as a spam)) that is not true at all...... dashes in domains build anchor text and their is no rule against the dash in the domain .... I have many dash domain even many other use dssh domains dash domains rank very well and to some degree it pulls in more serp traffic.....

 

Domain name don't even contribute 10% in SERP ranking and SEO points. So, I suggest get a 2 keyword domain with or without dash and start concentrate at onsite and most importantly offsite seo.

In my experience, the domain name is very important in the serps. Some domains, even new fresh ones, google simply doesn't like, regardless of content and backlinks.

Bing is huge on domain names, having the keyword domain means a lot with Bing.

Oahu Home is more to real estate and there is no doubt that it can deliver more traffic because it is like a general topic. The only difference you can see from oahuhome is the bounce rate. I'm guessing that if you concentrate on handyman services fully on oahuhome domain, the bounce rate will be on higher side if you ranked well for oahuhome keyword. Maybe, you can diversify your services like offering real estate and other home related services to drop bounce rate. If you only want to concentrate "handyman" then, it is good to go with oahu-handyman domain.
