Hi Cakefeed, why are you selling? Will there be any problems with HostGator by using this domain name? I know they are very strict. Please let me know.

    thanks

You rip hostgators template...leaving the links in the header navigation...clutter it with banners and then try to sell it to an unsuspecting newbie? Site is a clear example of copyright theft and infringement, trademark theft and infringement and a poor example for newbies as to how you can make money promoting affiliate accounts. Hostgator can easily demand the domain be turned over to them. Good luck with your sale but anyone purchasing this would be crazy.

Yea, i think you are right. The content will result in copyright complain from Hostgator since it's copied. Maybe TS should take note.

OMFG! I can't even believe that people are actually bidding on this! You can't use copyrights in domain names, and you definitely can't use their logos. This thread needs to be closed!

Someone was selling hostgator.ws on DP several weeks ago and claimed they got the all clear from Hostgator and that the site was legit. I don't know if that was true or not, but the thing about this sale thread isn't the domain as much as the site itself. It's just the Hostgator template with the banners from the affiliate area. It looks like they simply copied and pasted the source code right from the affiliate banner page itself!

The header links even go straight to the main Hostgator site, so you wouldn't even get the comission if someone clicked the order link! ANYONE could make this site in about 5 minutes...

To Cakefeed: Usually your sites are pretty cool, but you dropped the ball on this banner farm concept. I'd be embarrassed to try to sell this one for more than the domain registration fee. What were you thinking???

Here's what's taken straight from Hostgator's Affiliate Terms of Service:
"As an affiliate website of HostGator, you may use any form of promotion you choose, consistent with the terms of this Agreement. ... Allowable promotional links may contain HostGator's trade names, service marks, and/or logos for display on your Affiliate Site. Subject to the terms and conditions hereof, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and download such Links and other designated promotional materials for placement on your Affiliate Site for the sole and exclusive purpose of promoting websites owned, operated or controlled by HostGator."

The summary is "Hostgator wants your freakin money anyway they can get it!" Don't try to paint a hosting provider as a saintly bastion of virtue. Or am I working in a different business than the rest of you?

I already have some great offers thanks for all the publicity "Bad press is better than no press!" :)

Do you know what "designated promotional material" means?
Ripping websites and placing them on domains does put us in 2 different businesses.
If all we had to do was use a web ripping or web editor program to sell sites for $100 (ROFLMAO) we would all be making big money.
I would love to see your example of an ebay or Amazon affiliate website LOL!!

    Free Review:
    Design: Thoughtless
    Layout: Unprofessional
Concept: Funniest thing I have ever seen! Throw a bunch of banners onto a page and call it a website. Steal a companies template and leave all of their navigation in place.
    Good luck to you.

I think you're taking this MUCH too literally. You're right that they want 'your freakin money anyway they can get it'.....that 'way' will be suing your copyright infringing ass, taking your domain and all the money you made off this so-called 'website'.
