Domain age or quality backlink? A great struggle in serp

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by adsenserobo, Aug 10, 2009.

I have verified that google gives importance to domain age rather than quality backlinks, so i had deeply thinked and came to a solution. wait i will explain...

Suppose if we want to rank no 1 in serp for a keyword but our domain is new and if we search for that keyword there are older domains say age 2004.
Though we are having quality link than the no 1 position site, google looks domain age relevancy.

So how we should get to top????????????????????

This simple silly trick works or not?

The trick is signing up with hubpages ( the domain age is 2001) and we are writing hubs on that keyword topic and optimising that hub.
Now we are creating backlinks for the url of the hub whether it works and can get 1 st position?

Combination of it. Keep gaining quality links from related, relevant and high-ranked site while your site is aging...

Not sure how/where you did your research, but, in the nicest way possible, it stinks!

Domain age is only a small part of a big picture. Backlinks make up the majority of that picture. . .fo gigure

Ofcourse backlinks are important in SERP no matter how long your domain is....
if your domain is 5 years old and have 0 backlinks than how would it be ranked on SERP..??

No doubt that quality link is more important.
Content is the most important and followed by quality link

If you're sure domain age is more important, then go for it and tell us how it works out.

    I think:
    - Quality of content
    - Domain age
    - PR
    - Refresh speed

Older domains will gain good reputation with Google. Domain age is a very important issue when it comes to optimizing and marketing. And if we take 2 websites (new and old) and build 500 backlinks with the same anchor in 1 night. New site will be most likely banned. Old domain will survive. But for me, I still focus in quality backlinks.

Google don't show all the links it sees. So, an old website has more chance to have more backlinks then a new website even if you can't see them.

ROFLMAO That says nothing about how important a ranking factor domain age is relative to links. That says having an old domain makes you less likely to be banned which is most likely a total myth. I've never heard of such a thing. I would bet any backlash (if any) suffered by the new URL for gaining 500 links in 24 hours would also apply to the old URL. But the OP wasn't asking about how domain age relates to a site's propensity to be banned or penalized by Google... he was asking about how it relates to SERP rankings.

    most essential things..

    - who links you (factors: niche, authority, age, etc)
    - how links you (on which term)
    - where links you? (is it from homepage or a post)
    - how long it is on there (longer the link remains better for you)

    Combination is better.

I have been well accepted by Google because of the domain age, but after a while, I used autopost to massively add posts to my blogs. Like 3,000 posts in 15 days. It ended up that google put penalty on the entire domain including subdomains. My ranking in google dramatically went down and my traffic was reduced by 90%.

Old domain doesn't get much mercy when google found spamming posts.
    :p
