How to reduce the bounce rate?

As the title says, how can I reduce the bounce rate?

My site has bounce rate of 63%.

While it is good to have a lower bounce rate, but don't just think it in terms of the bounce rate. I used to think very similarly and was searching for templates which might give me a better bounce rate.

I think instead of thinking of a lower bounce rate, I think providing better content and navigation automatically decreases bounce rate.

Though, just as an example visit explainstuff.com, templates like that decrease bounce rate. Because the visitor has to click on a post to read about the article in detail. But, honestly, there is nothing else that improves. Just bounce rate.

But, if they like reading or watching the articles, or content you provide in any form, they will automatically give that second click.

Sometime its good to have a higher bounce rate. Google might be having the highest bounce rate. ;-)

 

There is no silver bullet for improving your bounce rate. Sites with low bounce rates make hundreds of improvements over a period of years. Start searching some of the sites with search terms like: improve website conversion rate. Navigation is one of the biggest problems on sites. You can also read and search under: website usability. The information is all there . . . free.

Make more related quality content.
By the way, traffic source is actually affect the bounce rate.
According to my google analytics result, my bounce rate from search engine traffic is 33% but overall bounce rate is 43%.

 

Find out what the visitors are looking for. Check which keywords they use to find your site; check which page they are looking at. Add more pages with content written around and related to the keywords or page that they visit.

 

Good and interesting content and clean navigation make low bounce rate!

But as you already found out, that ain't enough.

I was going to ask you in the earlier post where your visitors are coming from. That too makes a big difference.

For example, many think that organic traffic is the way to go. Actually, with many sites that get organic traffic, they have the highest bounce rate. It's because many doing a search are also just clicking away out of sheer boredom, going from site to site.

Many are at work doing this.

If you are advertising, how are your ads worded? That too can play a part in your bounce rate.

"Recucing waste." I have no idea what that means. What does that have to do with your site?

No offense, but at first I thought this was a site on how to reduce our garbage; another recycling site.

I know what the "CRM" stands for, but many will not.

That is a vital sales pitch that needs to be shown, right in front of them.

But cut back on it some. It is too much reading. A good editor can cut that in half and still have it being a good sales pitch.

Perhaps make that much bigger, and put a picture along with it?

Pictures, along with text helps keep the readers moving. The more they read, the higher your odds go up in getting more positive results.

Find some good pictures to add to your nice-looking site.

If you can, also give free tips. If they like them, they will continue to read further down your page.

How's that "free report" sign-in working for you?

If it isn't, then give that info to them right there on the page.

Your goal is to be more successful with this, right? Then give it to them right then and there!

Actually, you should do it anyway.

Why make them sign in for it? All you are doing is losing potential sales.

If you want to get a list going, although for the most part I think they are a waste of time, give them pleny of good info to read, and THEN ask them to sign up for even more good stuff.

THAT'S how you get a list!

Take out the "last name" box in your sign-in. Many are very hesitant in giving their last name.

Take your best features, your best sales pitches and put them in bullets!

You tell how you can help the folks out there. Show them how you can do it.
Don't talk about it, show them!

If I was sitting in front of you, and I was in a hurry to be somewhere, what would you say to me right then and there to get my interest, to keep me there for a few more moinutes???

Do THAT on your site.

There are a few more things, but even if you were to do all of this, your bounce rate wil probably still be at least 30%.

That's the way it is. ... Accept it.

 

hahaha, i'm sorry but this is too ironic. you're having trouble with bounce rate and your website pushes CRM software! that's brilliant.

 

Improving navigation definitely helped some of my blogs and you also want to make the title of your posts interesting so people click on them.

 

Perry, thank you for help. Will try to implement all of it. The site is for sure lacking eye catching graphics and phrases. And there seem to be no motivation for a visitor to go beyond the first page. Hopefully, with your suggestions it will change.

Matt, I am sorry I do not know what is funny. I do not see what a CRM has to do with bounce rate. May be you will be able to say something constructive in your next post.
