Hi, I have a question...... for a new site what would u say is the right amount of links per month i should build and should i double that amount every month? Cheers
Don't focus on the number of links you acquire. Concentrate instead on the quality and relevance of the links. I also don't recommend going after what I call "The Unholy Trinity" of link building either - blog comments, forum posts/signatures, and social media. Rather than just spamming the Web, you can improve your reputation, authority and trust (RAT) by acquiring merit based links. If you want or need to learn how to acquire them, read this post: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=12104573#post12104573
Obviously Dan is right and that would work in the perfect world. One thing is what industry is your website about? But Dan's main point of getting links from websites that have the same content as you would be very helpful. The "unholy trinity of backlinks" can help with some long tail keywords.
So can internal links and some choice directory submissions. Frankly though to be honest I relegate blog commenting and social media to traffic generation, and forum posting/signatures to just being active in the community/industry/niche as a responsible member/participant.
It depends on how many links can you build each month. Once that you can't keep that up, Google will notice this and thus they are going to penalize you.
Jesus Christ man, they won't penalize you for not building links. All that'll happen is the competition naturally moves ahead while you get left behind.
Hi! it is better for you to update your website by posting useful and helpful contents than finding many links. On the other way, approved links is important because your ranking will get high but remember you must find links that is related to your content. Thank you.! However, If you have websites or blog please contact me through private message I write about music and food recipes.
Unfortunately no one can honestly answer this question, it all depends on the age of your site, your current backlinks, the current number of backlinks you have been building per day/week/month. There are just too many factors. For starters, I'd recommend starting at 500 per week, and then building from there to 1,000 per week after 2-3 weeks.
Hi to all I just bought a one-year old domain. How many backlinks (merit based links) per day is too many? 50, 100, 1000?
I will say go easy and don't do things that look out of the ordinary. Based on my experience, 30 to 100 links a month is sufficient for a new site. As your site grow older, you can go a but more crazy. And I agree with Dan that you focus on the quality of sites rather than quantity as I found out that it makes a difference in your ranking.
Strongly agree with the Dan as below Always look for quality link, only quality link bring you to success
First & foremost - it will depend entirely on your industry. To trip a filter in the Insurance market will take a lot more links than, say, Golfing Equipment. I always recommend starting small and growing it gradually. Maybe think around 3 nice PR links the 1st month complemented by 1 or 2 articles & a handful of Bookmarks. . .etc. I look at it like riding a wave. If you start too high & can't keep up with the volume of links you've set yourself - it takes a long time to get back on that wave again if you fall off! Consistency is key!
^ Yeah right. Just keep on building quality links. And be sure you are following the right process. Goodluck
It really depends on your niche... If I feel secure to build alot of links right off the bat I will go all out. But if the niche is real small and easily dominated then I build slow. Its just a matter of giving yourself the common sense factor. I wouldnt go build 500 links for a longtail keyword like, "I want to buy a pile of yogurt" for a yogurt finder website.
At least one good answer here by Dan (as usual, I have to say). Google will not ever penalise you for getting too many quality links, it will only penalise you for rubbish ones and only if your website is new and spammy.
