You can make some good money with Google AdSense, but you're setting yourself up for disaster if you make any of these 6 mistakes! * Keep AdSense ads off of your registration, confirmation, and all "thank you" pages. It makes sense that those would be wonderful locations. Google thinks otherwise, however, and doing so is a hanging offense according to their Terms of Service. * Don't "beg for clicks" or provide any incentive for clicking on your Google AdSense ads. * Do not display competitor's ads formatted to use the same layout and colours as the Google ads or search boxes on the same page. * Never click on the ads running on your own site, even if you are genuinely interested in the product or service and are thinking of buying it! The Google Gods can track this activity and it won't be long until you find yourself getting a goodbye note from their fraud team. *Don't advertise anything on Google's prohibited items list. * Avoid keyword spamming and other divisive tricks. Hope this helps .
Thank you for that post. most of what you have written comes directly from Google's ToS, but so many people don't read them! Good post!
* Do not display AdSense ads and a competitor's ads on the same page at the same time you can use other ads with adsense it states as long as they do not look like adsense ads. I have used text only ads from adsense and banner ads from other's
As you said jkadin : Competitive Ads and Services (google tos) In order to prevent user confusion, publishers may not display Google ads or search boxes on websites that also contain other ads or services formatted to use the same layout and colours as the Google ads or search boxes on that site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure that these ads cannot be confused with Google ads.
here are my tips. 1. Always or when ever possible label your ads as "Advertisement" or "Sponsored Links" if the ads are too much blended. 2. Do not place ads on those sites that gets crappy traffic (e.g. comment, social network, SU, adult site link back) 3. Never place confusing image near ads 4. Use ads blocker to avoid clicking own ads 5. Never tell friends/family to click on ur ads even via IM (IM traffic can be tracked) 6. be honest
This is bad advice if you want to gain the maximum revenue. This will encourage users not to click on the adverts. This has no advantages except to the user visiting your website. This will lower CPM in short and long run!
"2. Do not place ads on those sites that gets crappy traffic (e.g. comment, social network, SU, adult site link back)" Comments also cannot arrrr? I thought we should encourage interaction activities within the site
The best tips is not to click on your own ads. I have seen many people telling people to click on their ads, which is not legal.
Really great tips! I agree with a previous post that Google Adsense is always very unpredictable and tough to calculate...
