    If I get a link from a footer section of a site will it be considered spam in the eyes of SE?

    It is ok to put link in footer page base on my experience. But better to put as link in text in the body.

    Footer links are the best, they are not bad so exchange lot of footer links as you can do.

    I once purchased footer links from a site with 50000 pages. Guess what? I got deindexed 2 weeks later. G didn't like it. Never again!
