I think this is the problem with one of my sites. I built a lot of links with the same anchor and reached the no 2 spot quickly - it then dropped to page 3 and has stayed there. The site is not new, but hasn't had much seo work done. Now starting to vary the anchor text in hope of fixing the problem. Also doing more deep linking, as before they were all to the homepage.
Page rank is determined by various factors.Only having more links does not give you the high page rank.It depends upon the domain age and the site quality and content.
I made a rookie mistake by adding links to my site in various places. I quickly went from page 1 to page 6. As soon as I removed the extraneous links and the site was re-indexed I moved back to page 2 at least.
Too much of linking on homepage or on your site may be a wrong way to do seo , thus you may get banned from search engine. So be sure of what types and amount of links you are providing on your website. Regards Knight http://www.iexpertsforum.com/top-seo-tools.html
