Discussion in 'Link Development' started by bamb0lin, Aug 2, 2009.

I have a budget to spend on link building. My niche is a software company.

I have been spending my budget buying blog posts from tech blogs and software download websites.

I would like to diversify and maybe improve my strategy.

Could you provide me with any tips?

    Thanks guys :D

Do you have an SEM campaign rolling?
Personally I think continuing your current SEO campaign is great; I would focus on SEM if you're into sales.

Make something really great and get it on Digg for some real exposure. :)

Depends on how competitive your niche is. You should check out your competitor's link first.
    use yahoo siteexplorer

As Zac said, if your site is a transaction based site you might want to use SEM or roll out an affiliate system.

What kind of software does your company produce/sell? Who does it sell the software to? Which other people/companies/organizations (that you are aware of) also use the software?

Do you provide support for the applications?

Our product converts quite well, for our industry but there are few people who are interested selling software (IMO). People are more into selling ebooks as affiliates!

In the past we have tried to give a go to affiliate program - most of the people do not want to get involved with a small not established company.

Got your PM and replied to it. There's a method to the madness you'll be seeing in there; please trust me though. (When I dig into a Web site, I dig DEEP, and I've not even begun to scratch the surface with yours yet.)

Go to the marketplace here, and on wickedfire. There are people offering 2,000 directory submissions for under $20 bucks. It's a great deal - and it works.

The company I work for charges like 8 - 20 times the price. If they ever had issues with their Indian company, I would know exactly where to go to help our hundreds of clients.

    nuff said.

2000 manual directory submission takes atleast 25-30 hours to complete and i believe that people who are doing such task for $20 might be using automated tricks to get the job done.

    no offense, Its simple logic.

Don't buy backlinks! What do you think it will acheive?

Sub-conciously we all know your end goal is to go higher up in the search engine rankings; now is Google going to take the slightest bit of notice that some links in articles have been re-directed to your site, or that you've got "2000+" links from directories with hardly any traffic, pr or credible status what-so-ever?

You can invest in link building services that will build up a genuine, unique and original backlinks program but unless you're really short of time I'd say try something yourself.

Software can be a killer - is your product(s) on Clickbank? You can get an army of affiliates (and help them out on your site) - have a read around. Affiliate programs can build traffic and links very quickly if you give them juicy enough bait.

    What does your software do?

In my view to get to the front page of any search engine is a myriad of things:
    articles
    Rss feed
    social sites
    web2.0
    pinging

Is there a service that does all of these + for a reasonable price?

    I am interested.

    Anyone?
