Best plugin to allow access to a 'members only' page?

I'm putting together a site for a client of mine and they are wanting a members page. Does anyone know of a decent plugin that still works in 2.8?

Also how would I implement the login function? If I create a login box and place it in the sidebar, would I need to code the login to work with the plugin?

Or if you have another way to make this work feel free to suggest anything.

I actually believe I've found what I needed.

wpNamedUsers seems to work just fine, to assign users to certain groups. Then to allow certain groups/users access to certain pages/posts.

But this plugin doesn't support payment. It's only allows you to manage roles.
