Problem with all my phpld sites

Discussion in 'Directories' started by iowadawg, Aug 4, 2006.

Yesterday I moved all my sites to a new server and ip number.
All the sites are okay, except for the directories, all phpld ones (free and paid).
The directories are there, people can submit their links.
I get the emails that the links have been submitted.

But, when I go to admin to approve/delete the links, there are none shown!

Is there a particular file or would it be the database?

    Thank you.

Sounds like the connection to your database might not be set up correctly. Are you categories being displayed on the homepage? I'd go into phpmyadmin and run SELECT * FROM `PLD_LINK` WHERE status=1 to see if the pending sites are in there.

The sites are showing up a-ok with all categories and sub-categories okay.
Just checked the tables and no links except for approved links already are there.

    i had same problem.
you must have mysql 4.0 version on old host and new host must be having ver. 4.1
this problem of database engin. password handling in 4.1 is totally different than 4.0

    try following things.

ask your host to enabale "Use old style (4.0) passwords with mySQL 4.1+ (required if you have problems with php apps authenticating)"
if no success the try to convert database format from ver 4.0 to 4.1 and reupload it.

this problem is nasti as it does not allow to reinstall also.

if sill no success then don't think you can do much but find host with Mysql ver 4.0

    Learned something there!
But the version of mysql is still the same from the old server to the new server, version 4.1.19

Would it maybe work out if I backed up the entire database, then wiped out the database on the server and re=uploaded?

Heck, will try that now just to see what happens.

Editted and added: well that was painless, the backup, deletion of the old, and re-uploading. Everything is there again, will see if someone submits to the site. http://currentnewsreport.com

If it worked, will do the same to all the directories.

Oh, now if from my end, I submit a site to the directories, it does show up as a link waiting to be approved!

I tried a submit and got a blank page after I clicked submit.

If it submitted you will recognize it.

I don't know what the problem is!
So it is wipeout city for the database!
Rebuild and see if it works then.

Oh well, being retired, I have tons of time to work on this!

Of course, it is not good for all my other directories, can't just wipe out the databases on those.

No gmail...they got pissed at me early this year for lambasting them for allowing spammers to use gmail.

So that site of mine is not a directory, not anything right now.

Got a new domain, put it up on another host server.
It is only for blogs and forums (if you can read that, explain to me why I have been bombarded with NON blogs and forums? Since so far, the only place to know of this new directory is here).

And a simple url name: http://www.bfdir.com

Original problem still remains...all my other directories are still not showing any links submitted even though emails hit me constantly with new submissions. The submitted links do not show up in the database anywhere.

Which leads me to really suspect my problem is the database.
I have made back ups, then deleted. Re-uploaded the backed up databases, and still not working!
So what I was thinking...can I just make a back up of the approved links?
EG: the pld_link file alone in the database?
Then delete the entire database and reupload a new database?
Once that is done, then upload the saved pld_link file?

ANyone have any ideas on this one?

i submitted activeweblinks to the above post for your testing.

    let me know if you:

    1. get your email for the submission.
    2. see the link in the admin panel.

What version of phpLD are you running on that dir?
Have you had anyone modify any files at all?

I may have a little time over the weekend to look into this for you if the problem persists.

I am also wondering if the categories was a cut & paste job?
And if so, was your category SEQ table updated, and are you over-writing already submitted sites because of SEQ not being updated.

If i look into it, i'll need all your info for that particular directory.
    script admin cpanel
    mysql access
    and ftp info/access.

Bfdir.com is okay, nothing wrong with that one as it is new.

    It is my other directories.
    Example is: http://www.timeclicker.biz

Still get emails on submitted sites, but not on the directory.
Have not made any changes, just transferred from one server to another.
This problem is just my phpld directories.
The two directories running with sitesift have no problems.

Weird thing is, I can manually add a site, or even submit a site, and everything is okay.

Working right now on uploading and getting a directory back on currentnewsreport to see if it works.

Someone give me about 30 minutes (just in case) to get the site up and running and then submit a site or two there to see if it works.

All is right with the world and my directories!

Going through each right now as all submissions I never saw are there now, so there are like 300+ I have to review and act on.

Don't know what the techies did (they never explain their work to me), but they got the job done early this morning.

Now all my directories are up, are working, and ready for more submissions.

Thanks to everyone for helping me out.
