i have trouble with the google pr. i started a web page 2 months ago and still it is pr 0 . i submitted it to many directories and the site has a lot of information and 50 pages on it . how can i lift the pr a little bit? i don't like the idea of cross-linking with other pages as i don't want to have any outbound links. (except my affiliate ones which are hidden from google) any ideas?

Out link to a couple authority sites with relevant anchor text.

So if your site is about washing machines

    Washing Machine History

    And so on.

Always experiment while link building. And then continue with the procedure if you see any positive difference if any.

PR is all about Backlinks, so just keep on building backlinks from websites with a PR higher than yours...
Just make sure it's a DOFOLLOW link that will pass some PR juice ;)

Do you use google webmaster tools?

If not you might want to consider signing up as the tools give you alot of valuable information about your site in areas where you may be going wrong.

Get unique high ranking back links. Directories don't always work.

usually what i believe is getting higher in google is mostly about content not backlinks and if you have a lot of good unique content you will get good PR even without many backlinks isn't that right?

Draw a green line toward the top of your browser right on the screen (green sharpie marker is best) - or you can work on your website content and forget about PR all together...the second is best.

What do you mean outlinking? You need to build links to your site. It helps if their relevant to yours and have high pr themselves

    It's called "sarcasm". ;)
PR means nothing - content and traffic mean everything. Your wasting your time worring about "the little grean bar" when you could be focusing on what IS important...your sites position in the SERP's. Did I explain it well enough this time?

yeah i know all that, but my friend i believe pr has something to do with serp's. after all if a site has pr of 6-7-8 there is a much greater possibility to get to the top than a site that has pr 0-1-2 . ain't that right my friend?

No, it's not right. Why? Because Google knows more than anyone else that PR is and has been manipulated for years (Read the "sell links" section of this forum). My site is much higher in the SERP's as a PR3, then it was when it was a PR6. Why? Because Google uses "Actual PR" that is only known by them..."the little green bar" was a bad idea, and they know it. Did you ever wonder why Google's own browser "Google Chrome" doesn't and cannot include PR???

I wonder a lot of the time what value PR actually has. I understand the principle of more backlinks= more popular = more PR and that more popular is a good thing, but I frequently see sites above others in SERPS with much lower PR. So what value does PR actually impart?

Because if they suddenly removed it as if it never exsisted, webmasters whos lives seem to evolve around PR would panic and overload Google's servers with e-mails. think about what happens when they make a simple site alteration, weather is cosmetic or an Algo change.

The more inportant problem it would cause for Google is the fact that they would be admitting they made a mistake by developing it in the first place. This would be very hard for G to swallow. It's just easier for them just to leave it for now, and not count it.
