So I'm looking into buying my own forum. I don't know what is the best hosting, I can only think of: IPS, vB, and PHP. Is there anything other then those 3 that is better?
If Price is not an issue, vBulletin is the best IMO. Most flexible, full featured and easy to work with.
Er, well its not the hosting per say, its the cost of the license for a product called VBulletin.. Its like $160 or so if I remember?
Depends on how details you want the forum software to be and for what purpose it's going to be used for. Care to give some details?
You need a powerful hosting vor vB, because it takes more server resources as other forums. And I can recommend vB, it is not easy for beginners, but have really many functions !))
I want a good forum hosting that I can easily add modifacations, forums, general forum stats, and lots of traffic without trying to spend a bundle of money.
Then go for vB coz it have a lot of mod that can be implement but it does come with a price. The down site of vB is the price is high.
If you are refering to best forum hosting, http://webhostinggeeks.com/bestforumhosting.html If you are refering to forum software, http://www.theadminzone.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=109 vBulletin have my vote for sure.
The way you describe the matter is a bit confusing. vBulletin is a complex solution, it may or may not be best for you, depending on your forum management skills or requirements. There's no place for doubt that the vbulletin team offers fantastic support, I have a good feeling that they are the best around. But you may not need to go that far if you're looking for something easy to start up with. I'd also consider myBB or SMF which are free options. Of course, free means... free. Now if you're referring to hosting, then literally any php/mysql enabled shared account would fit your forum for starters. Once your community takes off and grows large, you'll need to switch to VPS or dedicated hosting. Good luck.
I would advise against starting with vBulletin if this is the first forum you are starting and you are not (very) serious about it. Try a free forum script for starters, see if this is for you, how it works, how you monetize it, then move to vB. Otherwise you could end up with a $200-ish spent on a license you aren't going to use.
