Add a blog to my website

Hello people!

I have just bought a domain, and a web hotell. I am gonna have a blog at this domain, but there is nothing at the site at the moment. Can anyone of you out there recommend me any blogs that are freer to use so I can add to my website?

It should be possible to add advertisement at the sides of the blog.

you can use wordpress. u can install using fantastico if you have it. it's in the your cpanel.

Sure you can if it is your own installation of wordpress like @alexanderx mentioned.

Download wordpress and install it. Start blogging. You can do anything (advertising is so easy with WP) with Wordpress. If you need assistance, you may hire a wordpress expert later.

 

So how do I install it?

Your first step is to get wordpress (it's the best free blogging software out there at the moment).
Quite a few of the bigger hosts will have "one click installs" for this. Others you will need to download it from the wordpress site and then upload it via FTP.

The second step is to install it (it's pretty self explanatory really, it guides you through a lot of it).

After that you can choose to install more themes to personalise the layout of your blog (there are loads out there for free, a lot that arn't free too) or get a custom one made for your site. You can also have a look around for plugins that you might find useful and install them too (e.g. one to place adsense ads in the posts, one to make on site SEO better, anything really),

Then it's pretty much just start blogging.

Right. free blog at wordpress.com only allow you to blog. No ads and whatsover. You can't install your own template. Moreover your also can't use javascript like the shoutbox widget and other cool widget. Blogger.com is more customizable in term of freedom but wordpress.com have many useful n powerful plugins. Wordpress.com aiming to host real blog, not blog that purposely created for profiting purpose.

Anyway wordpress on self hosted is the best. You can add your own template, install more plugins, use javascript and other script, insert ads, even create simple forum, classified ads and so on. Highly recommend.

 

Choose a topic of your choice and people search in google. Make article on it with proper keywords It great idea to start it.
