I think social groups can be a great idea for a web forum. Anyway there must be a rule to prevent duplicate social groups. Sometimes spameers will will misuse these things after a sometime. For an example, in facebook most of are making groups in facebook for a special thing, then collect members. After sometimes they spammed a lot, this is a famous thing in facebook.
Please keep Mod's and senior members eye on the social groups.

    Thanks

The problem I foresee with this is to get people to join the group. On another forum we have several clans/guilds which in effect is the same thing. But we had a separate sub-forum where each group leader could post an introduction to their group to get members. Also I wish I could sticky a top post, like an intro post for the group.

I think it should be like this... for every 1000 posts, a member can make one more social group.... less than 1000 posts = no ability to make social group.

IMO Digital point should have an auction area on Buy, Sell or Trade area also we may add countdown option.

First, I highly doubt people are going to go overboard on post padding just to be able to start a social group. They don't get post count there. They can't get rep there. They can't do business there. The incentives just aren't high enough for many.

Second, it's much easier for us to find that post padding and mass delete the crap than have to deal with loads of social groups from newbies which are spam, duplicates, or otherwise inappropriate - it would be more of a manual (and time intensive) thing to moderate.

Makes sense to me. I also suggest to have group owners become responsible for moderating their groups. If a group contains nothing but link dropping and other forms of spam, the creator of the group should receive a warning and if it continues, the group needs to be eliminated and his ability to create more groups should be taken away.

If a social group contains nothing but link dropping and spam, a warning isn't going to fix the group. The group just just be deleted.

I think there must be a limitation for group creators. For an example group creator must have 1000 posts or 100 itardes, 5 Green blobs or something. Otherwise spammers will come to DP and wait some time to make a big group and misuse it. This thing is happened in most of social networks. Please care about it.

    Thanks

We should also include that group leaders should be responsible enough to moderate their group properly.
