I am pretty new at SEO an I think Im doing pretty good. I do have a question. I have been checking out a blog called www.metafever.com and they were talking about "link wheels". Isnt that the same thing as a link farm? Is it a good idea to get involved with these guys?

Haven't heard of it before but I decided to research it a bit. It appears to be a form of link laundering (you know, like money laundering, except you're doing it with links). Given that each node not only links to the nodes next to it but also your site, it shouldn't be hard for Google or the other search engines to detect.

Basically, stay away from it. (Seriously, not even rel="nofollow" will save you here.)

well, link wheel is the term used to setup a network of mini sites or social media/web 2.0 pages and link form one page to another. usually all the web 2.0 pages don't get linked to each other but moving from top to bottom or so. if you build 3 web 2.0 pages for example (say squidoo, hubpages, and weebly), you then link from squidoo to hubpages and to your main landing page. then from hubpages to weebly and also to your landing page. you need to create lot of those pages to see some good benefit. if done properly, speaking form experience, you rip great benefit as all the pages you build are theme related. only thing is that you still need to promote those pages to get them indexed.

Don't get the name of any product. Just see the method. Most of are related to create backlinks from Web 2.0 sites. But what i recommend is doing basics like directory submission, article submission, dofollow blog commenting and one way backlink building.

    Good luck
    Blog.

Agree. Linkwheel is good for low competitive long tail keywords only. Also, don't even expect you would rank at first page in google overnight with just a linkwheel. You have to create lots of linkwheels i.e. create 6 linkwheels for all 6 web2.0 links that point to your money site and so on...the more the better.

If you just find a red hot niche which is not suitable for long term business and great for affiliate product selling, I would say go for it....but still, submit a few articles to high pr article directories combine with linkwheel would definitely work better.
