How would you describe your business or job title

I often have great difficulty in explaining what I do as a job, I now just say I work in computers.

How would you describe your job title and business?

I'd like to see the words people use to describe what they do.

Can't help you there - you've stolen my own description.

I work for a web hosting and internet security company. Most people (relatives & firends) simply don't understand what that job entails or what it is we actually do. I have tried to explain in the past but "working with computers" or "it's an internet (or online) business" is usually the easiest explanation.

I manage my sites and used to do freelance work. So I can say that I am doing "Online Business" Or "Freelancing". Not sure if they count as job titles or not :)

Much wider range of jobs going on here than even I imagined and I've imagined some weird things in my time.

Guess I'm going to have to stick with working with computers.

I used to work as a database developer at a large travel agents in the UK with ethics that would make satan blush. Anyhoo they used to bring in consultants at about 20x my salary to state the obvious, I always fancied being a consultant. I always stated the obvious but because my job title did not include consultant I was shut in a dark room with all the other computer geeks:(

Doing work on computer is a broader word. What you can do on it is your job title.

Yes, it's important we do real man jobs - I make up for this by attempting DIY at home and doing gardening (digging big holes and stuff)

At least they are recognising it as a job even if its not a proper one, I usually just get blank stares.

I'm a media planner. I gave up explaining what is that long time ago. I remember one training, where the reader said: "After this course, you'll be able to explain to your mom what is, exactly, your job". I still can't. I just say: "I work in marketing", although it's not clear either...

Haha, I remember trying to explain to my grandma what I did around 20 years ago -
"I sell computer systems" I said,
her reply "oh, what's a computer",
my reply "well, do you know what a typewriter is?",
    "No" she said
At that point I gave up!
