I have 5 warez sites under TMZ proxy hosting and so frustrated when I received this email: Hi, It seems like you did not receive the email we sent out when the crash happened. Here it is below: ================== Hello, I am extraordinarily sorry to contact you with this information as it's not really "good" news but it's better than nothing. We had a hardware failure and we lost the "/var" partition on the server which contains MySQL databases and cPanel user account configurations. All of your files, emails, scripts, etc... are still very safe as they are on the /home partition. We are fixing this issue and we will be dispatching welcome emails to you as your account is fixed on the server. You will likely need to go in and re-add any add-on or parked domains however none of your files have been lost. If you are running a proxy script (it is after all a proxy server) your site should function as normal however if you are running a site that uses a MySQL database such as WordPress - your database has been lost and cannot be restored. If you have any questions contact support, we will have everything online as soon as possible and we appreciate your patience in this matter. Honestly i hate to say this... But i have said this since tmz came out... You get what you pay for, it was only a matter of time.... It's a cheap quality server, i have and will always recommend spending the extra to make sure it's done right.
Database lost is a real big deal. They should have offsite backup service. I dont really care if my files is gone (eg like forum or so on) but if db loss after all the hard work.. They should compensate you for the loss you gain not to mention the client/user you have.
There are only 2 types of computer in this world, 1 that has failed, and 1 that will fail. You should have had backups, it only takes a few clicks.
every host states clearly that backup should be done regularly by client for his own safety we cannot hold responsible web hosting company unless you are assured backups , but still i say server are just machines and hardware life never can be predicted
I do have to say, that is a very crappy situation!!! I do feel for you! I have lost information multiple times. In all truth though, making your own backups is the best way to go for any reason. I do feel sorry for you though, this type of thing does suck!
Read the terms of service, every hosting company clearly states you're responsible for your own data!!
Our proxy servers are for PROXY sites, so 90% of the clients were not affected because most are proxy sites which were easily restored. Only the SQL databases were lost. If you read our Terms Of Service it clearly states that we do not backup our proxy servers and we recommend that you make your own backup. We are sorry for the data loss, but we did everything we can to get most of the data back. - Prilep
I also forgot to mention our proxy servers now have LiteSpeed instead of apache and i gotta say its a HUGE IMPROVEMENT. The servers have not gone down once after we installed litespeed. Our proxy hosting was bumpy these last few months but now we are coming back on track.
No it was not canceled. The server was corrupt and all data on it was corrupt, so we could not restore anything. Did you ask for a refund? PM me your TICKET number if you did. - Prilep
one of my warez site hosted with tmz - rapidownloads.net indexed by google = 25,800 posts, now nothing.
Are you reading the post above and the emails we sent out? You never asked us for a refund instead you came here posting. Mido, what is your primary domain? - Prilep
