    Hi guys,

I am setting up an online store selling clothes.

Can anyone suggest ideas on how to collect emails so that I can create a mailing list?

How do I collect emails from people in forums that I visit that is in my niche?

There are some useful email spider software out there but most of them are expensive...

If your store is successful, and you are selling quality products and making sales, just set up an email capture form using something like:

" Sign up to receive instant notification of our special sales" or something along those lines.

With a clothing store, I don't know what you could give away for free to entice people to sign up to your list. If you can think of something, you can go that route too.

Even if you succeed in getting those emails, don't you think that is spamming too?

Of course not. Spamming is sending folks email that did not ask for it.
By signing up to the list or whatever you want to call it, they gave their permission.

Yes and No. Look, large email-outs are an awesome, low-cost tool for generating awareness and perhaps some sales. Although in order to succeed, you have to be smart about the way you do it. Here at work we often buy lists from one company who provide us with highly targeted emails. There is no point collecting 10,000 random emails, sending them out and hoping to sell a tonne of product, because the only people who will make a purchase are the ones who are looking for something similar to your product at that exact moment... highly unlikely.

As I think a couple of people have said, offer a newsletter subscription, or even yet create something that users will def want for free, but have to enter their email to recieve. The company I work at uses a video preview of our products to gather emails. This way all the emails you recieve are highly targetted because you know that (at least at one stage) they were interested in what you offer.

    Good luck

A cool way of getting a ton of subscribers to your email list is to offer an incentive. For example with one of my businesses I offer my visitors a free copy of my Six Figure Income Plan showing people the steps I took to quit my job. They get it if they opt in my email list. This is not spamming because they gave me their info. So try it out. Hope it works out in your favor

Setting up a competition with free giveaways or special discounts would be a great way to attract visitors to opt-in.
