hello a friend of mine told me that .net domains were better than .com domains because they were more "serious" and "professional" at the eyes of google and rest of search engines, so id like to know if somebody in here would be kind enough to confirm or reject this theory thanks!
I reject this theory and substitute my own. .com domain names are, have always been, and most likely always will be the most Google-friendly, as they are the default. Com stands for company, Net stands for network. Which would Google rather back? Which would you rather back?
The best if you can get it is .com. However, if you take a look at different niches in Google you will see .net, .org, etc. listed in the top ten (as well as .com). To coin a phrase, it's not the three letters you have, it's the way you use them that makes the difference. It's better to get a domain name that contains your keyword(s) than worry about whether it's a .com or .net. Worry more about driving traffic... Barbara
I don't think so , the preferred choice is .com but this classic theory from TLDs seems to be a small fractions of various factors for SE , even lesser nowadays .
.com is better, simply because people try .com first. I know many people who don't even know .net exists.
I would probably say that .net is not actually so good to me.. .com is what and mostly used by web owners...
whitepython, Google's computers look at all extensions as the same. It goes by the number of other sites linking to it. That is, basically, how the computers are run. Google themselves will tell you this.
In my knowlodge .com is the preferred domain while .net is the second best. There is most likely a list on google of which domain is the most popular, but .com is number one for sure.
.com .net .org are kind of like area codes. If a domain name is taking with 1 extention then try a another one. For example If you want but someone already had a website a www.example.com then try it at www.example.net Just keep in mind that .com is the most common and popular choice. I mean just watch tv or listen to the radio you will here example.COM before any other extention. but on tv you might here .org more often but net might be the best choice
i Would go with .com as my number 1 choice.. dont think i would go with .net if .com wasn't available.. I would just have to think of something better
TLD has no bearing on SEO. Anyone telling you otherwise is just spreading more misinformation. The only time TLD plays a role is for geo-targetting (i.e. .com.au, .co.uk)
maybe for the first day or two but the second you start marketing your domain it really doesnt matter if its a .net or a .com in my opinion, i always go for the .com first though.
It has no SEO benefits, but imagine this...when a user types in a domain, all they have to do is type the words between the www and dot com and press Ctrl + Enter...but with a .net, you have to type the domain name and .net after it... that's one advantage of .coms.
