I do not want to join any institute. However, I can afford books at my home to learn. So, name of books may also be suggested.

I will be remain thankful for your valuable suggestion.

For having some information PHP information you may have first know how for other programming language! because PHP is a combination of variety of other programming language! so it is undefined for anyone to learn PHP directly without having any programming background!

if you are totally unfamiliar with it i suggest that you start on w3schools they have some basic tutorials there. This means if you are unfamiliar with any other programming language. If you know other programming language then google it and you will find plenty of info there. good luck

You should get a server running on your own machine first - then you can play with PHP locally.
XAMPP is a good place to start.

I myself do not have much PHP experience but a book is always good to learn from and provides plenty of examples, I have heard good things from the SitePoint books.

php.net has documentation on about everything you need to know. Looking at the code from open source projects may help you to, that is how I learned. Try making modifications and add small features to them.

First, you'll need to setup a local php development server or just register to a free php hosting site.

You will also need a good php development book. O'reilly books work for me.

The best thing about coding (for me) is learn by example. You can try various php based script out there and modified it to your need. This is the fastest way for you to get what you need. Look at the code then see how it's works.

I didnt learn php by book or neither joining any instituition to learn how to. Everything you can find on the net nowdays (google).
