Yup, sold him a website yesterday for $600 seemed very decent. Money went into my paypal, and as soon as it did I transferred the domain via domainsite and started uploading the files to a zipped folder. As soon as I sent him the link to the .zip file I had an email from PayPal saying a dispute had been opened. My account is now blocked and they've took all the money from paypal until I provide them with documents that I just don't have.

This means what? I can't provide the documents, he wins the dispute and walks away with my domain for free even though I knocked $900 off the price for him so I could get a quick sale as I wanted to progress onto clickbank products and needed the cash to invest in AdWords.

As soon as I emailed him about it, he went offline and he's not been seen since.

Just going to have to call it a write off and never use PayPal or sell anything on these forums again.

You must be joking dealing a product worth $600 with a member who already had 5 negative itrader : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/itrader.php?u=70325

Don't blame Paypal or this forum for what just happen. I guess this is a big lesson learn for you.

Not just for him,But for all DP members...

I know, I was so naive about it but I was desperate for the cash to start my next project.

I wasn't blaming paypal either. If anything they've done a good job by acting so swiftly (a matter of minutes) but unfortunately where they let the side down is they ask for too much info, I mean for 1. I cannot prove my address as I lodge with my sister so I don't have any bills etc, 2 I can't prove I've made the sale.

I've contacted domainsite but I very, very much doubt they will be able to help me but yeah lesson learned, I'll never sell on DP again.

Live and learn people! You could be next.

    UPDATE:

Here's the email back from domainsite:

    Hello,

Unfortunately we do not mediate domain disputes. Please go to ICANN
(Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers |
    http://www.icann.org/ ) and request/open a UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name
    Dispute-Resolution Policy | http://www.icann.org/udrp/udrp.htm ).

The follow organizations should be able to assist you in filing a UDRP:
    http://www.adrforum.com/
    and
    http://www.wipo.int/portal/index.html.en

    @Dynashox,
Now its clear that the member named XEROX is a scammer.
Why can't DP ban him permanently for his activity?

There are ways to sell correctly and anything of a large value, an escrow service should be used. Personally I do blame Paypal for this in that it's too easy for a buyer to win a dispute. Of course it could be a stolen credit card or a hacked account (in which case as much as it hurts, it's right to give it back) but their compliance is terrible. I don't know what kind of fraud laws you have in the US but in the UK any financial institution (which Paypal is over here) that doesn't investigate fraudulent claims immediately and with dilligence is in breach of at least ten different rules.

Unfortunately Paypal believe themselves to be above the law. How do I know they don't comply? I have offered them full IP logs of all these scammers (let's call them what they are) and they are not bothered.

Because of this I'm taking them to court on multiple counts and they have no chance of winning. It's about time someone came along to replace them because before long they are going to be forced to play by the rules, at which point they will probably close up shop

I agree, this isn't just $20 that won't be missed this is $600 along with all my other funds in PayPal and now I will not be using PayPal again as my account is limited and they will not lift the limitations until I provide the strict documentation that I just do not have. This not only has lost all my money and last 3 months hard work but also any future dealings as I will lose out on a lot of custom because I do not have PayPal.

I've just contacted ICANN and reiterated to them what's happened and he has done it before. I told them the domain isn't of great importance to me, it's everything else and I just do not want him to get this for free when I spent time and effort on it and also knocked $900 off the BIN for him!

you should upgrade your backaccount if your dealing online i pay 60$ a month for my bank card but if something isnt what i bought i will get my money back as my bank will just pull the money back from paypal.

Thanks for your help, I've just contacted PayPal by email because they fobbed me off on the phone last night and explained that I do not have everything but I can prove that he has the goods as all the emails are in my inbox here with DP. I also sent them a link to his iTrader page which proves he has done this before. If there were any justice my account would get unblocked, I'd get the $600, the domain and his account closed but we're talking PayPal here so I've lost my PayPal account, my 3 months hard work and my website. Oh well lol.

    Here's the PMs:

    ME:
What's your account code for domainsite? I thought it was johnwho:

Here is the status of the domain names you are trying to transfer to the account with account code johnwho.

    The account code is invalid.

    HIM:
This is my account code: 148161-1f21ce6

    HIM:
    Oke thanks, now the files

Give me a .rar or .zip with the files and the db.. Then Ill install the site on my own server!

    Regards, JOhn

    ME:http://www.crazyassthings.com/website.zip

Let me know if you have any problems installing it.

    HIM:
I wont have any problems ty. I only need the promothing guide to know how to manage traffic. Please send me a .doc with the promotion ways and we are done!

That's because DP moderators don't get involved in disputes between members.

Dp bans who violates rules of the forum and not the scammer. This type of message you will be reminded by moderator every time.

Proof of address: I only lodge here so I have no household bills
Bank statement: My bank address is elsewhere and I cannot change my address as I do not have enough ID
Proof of sale: I'm assuming providing them a whois which clearly shows he owns the domain will be enough
Proof of business: I'm not officially in business which is why I had a personal and not a business paypal account?
Proof of ID: I'm guessing my uni ID would count for that

actually they seem to be doable man...
give them proof of address, anything to prove that you live in the same country where your credit card was issued...

bank proof: don't you have an online banking access?
give them a screen shoot of your credit card statement (i did theis with MoneyBookers to unblock my account and it worked)

proof of sale: again screen shoots of the conversation between you and the buyer, make sure the URL is appearing in each screen shoot, and make your screen shoots in high resolutioin.

    proof of business: nul

Proof of ID, neither your uni ID or clear scanned passport copy.

beleive me it's not hard, just put your mind into it, and beleive that you've done nothing wrong and justice will find it's way to you, but you should make a move man!

    Good luck :)

I haven't got credit cards etc, I do have a payslip from the council with my current address on... I don't know if they will accept it though I'm waiting to hear back.

Also I was thinking just scan my bank card?
