WTF! Someone is copying DP's threads!

Ok, I was just checking my stats, and I like to see where people are coming from. So I saw most people were coming from G search, but then I also saw a forum thread, so I clicked it.

    This is what I found - http://forums.precharge.net/website-reviews/716-can-you-see-pictures-my-site.html

It is the exact same thing as this - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=110052
except that he changed my word "pics" to "picks".

If you don't understand what I'm saying, I made the DP thread, and someone copied it on the other forum. Is this legal?

Only the first post is similar... the replies are different...
Maybe someone wanted to help you out by posting your question there... ;)

Yeah, they probably are copying the first post of other threads too...
If he wanted to help me out  he didn't need to say the website was his.

EDIT: Also, my question was answered by the 21st, and he just made this thread 3 days ago so he obviously isn't doing this to help me.

Sometimes its Paid Forum Posters - They go to other forums, copy the question and then repost it.

Take a look at his post history

This matter has been brought to our attention. The thread has been removed. We have been using paid forum posters from time to time to help build the community. We have contacted the company / individual and they are being dealt with now. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    Love DP :)

To be honest the amount that paid posters get paid they are not really expected to think for themselves on each post. The paid posts are likely to be a much higher quality if they are copied from somewhere like DP than if they are made up in 2 seconds.

That was a fast response...This is unfortunately one of the problems with paid posters.

Nice job reacting so quick precharge

I always wondered how the forum posters could work so cheaply.

Not all forum posters act in that way...but its always good to check their first few posts then spot check them from there

Some people seem to specialise in 2-word posts, and phrases that could apply in almost any situation. This isn't just paid posters, but people trying to inflate their post count or gather more signature links.

There has definitely been a decline in the quality of posts in a lot of forums lately.

I am glad precharge took charge and dealt with the matter. As far as the paid poster goes that is bad rep for the paid posting field.

Although the pay is slighty cheaper than Article writing. It is mainly .01 cent per word and article writing is about .015 cent per word. But there are many services who payout .15 cents a post which would equal to article writing.

I think it is ridiculous and unethical that anyone would attempt to pay so little for forum posts. And even more so for accepting it as work. I personally classify this in the same category as someone expecting a professional website for a couple of hundred bucks. Expecting or accepting technical work at these prices degrades and embarrasses the web design community and should be frowned upon....

It's easy for a westerner to say that. Maybe there are places in the world where these rates can make for a decent living?

We have to deal with a global market. For the same reason that in the West are clothes are so cheap and our factories have all shut down, we have this phenomenon of cheap paid posting rates.

I once used a private party paid forum poster. I thought they were posting great original content. Then it was brought to my attention that they were actually being copied from a popular automotive forum! I was hit with a cease and desist letter from the company's head lawyer and was required to remove all copied posts to avoid legal action. I will never try paid forum posting again, I'll just create accounts and posts under assumed names myself from now on.
