    Guys,

I have added my business into google local business. But its not showing in the no-1 position. Its showing in the second page. ("more resulte near cityname" ).

Anyone any idea how can bring it in No-1 position.?

I think more reviews brings a listing up higher.

How is your company description looking? I always make sure I include a few of the keyphrases I want to show up on Google in there :)

Hey atniz, I had a question, if I set it to India, will my rankings of my blog posts ( US rankings) fall?

Dofollow backlinks to the website url or the google business url? The latter sounds like an interesting suggestion if thats what you meant :)

Do you have enough back links and also proper content with optimized structure codes ? This is to tell g..gle about your business. Do not forget there are many businesses like yours in your region most probably :)

Backlinks aren't as important in local search. Reviews, Keywords in business title (not too spammy), location close to city center are all useful factors. Might want to get a P.O. box with UPS, plus a virtual number with someone like skype or magicjack near the city center.

Also, make sure your business is listed in all of the local search sites.

Here's a great article about local search optimization:

    Dear Ladies & Gentlemen

Okay loads of interesting questions on this subject and I thought I'd share my knowledge with you all. Okay here are the facts from my lab test that I've been rolling with for 2 months on local listings.

    1) Your website has nothing to do with you local rankings on the local listings. You'll often find that some sites that are number one don;t have a website.

    2) The time from when you submit your listings and submit reviews. I can't tell you a time but if you have just added a site in to the local listings then leave it a couple of weeks.

    3) Add as much info as possible about the business including vidoe and pictures.

    4) Ensure that the name of the business contains the keywords or phrases.
    Example
"plumbers & Co - Plumbers in New York"

    4) Add keywords to the description field as well.

    5) The one thing I have seen that does relate to a website is integrating the maps on your site with the google maps.

    Okay thats it.
